Israel Said to Kill Hamas Commander in Dubai

    From news article:

DAMASCUS, Jan 29 (Reuters) - Israel has assassinated a senior Hamas military commander in Dubai, an official in the Palestinian Islamist group said on Friday.

Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was killed on Jan. 20, Izzat al-Rishq told Reuters in the Syrian capital Damascus.

"I cannot reveal the circumstances. We are working with the authorities in the United Arab Emirates," said Rishq, who is a member of Hamas's politburo.

Rishq said Mabhouh was an "important" member of Izz el-Deen al- Qassam brigades, Hamas's military wing named after a Syrian religious leader who fought British colonial forces in Palestine in the 1930s.

Mabhouh, born 50 years ago in the Gaza Strip but who had been living in Syria since 1989, was assassinated a day after he arrived in Dubai, said Rishq.

Syria and Iran are the main backers of Hamas, which was founded two decades ago and now controls the Gaza Strip.

Israel has killed a number of Hamas figures since then, but the group has refused to abandon its fight against the Jewish state.

Rishq said Mabhouh engineered the capture of two Israeli soldiers during a Palestinian uprising in the 1980s and was imprisoned several times by Israeli forces. Israel razed his home in Gaza.

Rishq lives in exile in Damascus, along with several of Hamas's main figures, including its leader Khaled Meshaal.

The United States, which has started a rapprochement with Damascus, wants Syrian authorities to help neutralise Hamas as an armed Middle East force.

Syria, which is seeking peace with Israel, resisted U.S. pressure several years ago to expel the Hamas leadership and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has said repeatedly that resistance was a legitimate right of the Palestinian people.

Hamas also has presence in Lebanon. A bomb in Beirut killed two of its members in December.

So G-d killed him, and since G-d is a Zionist, then blaming Israel seems perfectly appropriate!

Dubai 'identifies suspects in Hamas commander killing'

The authorities in Dubai say they have identified several "European passport holders" as suspects in the killing of a Hamas military commander last week.

Preliminary investigations indicated Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was murdered by "a professional criminal gang" which followed him there, police said.

The suspects are thought to have fled the United Arab Emirates.

    'Electric shock'

Earlier one member of the Hamas political bureau in Damascus, Izzat al-Rishq, told the BBC that Mr Mabhouh had been killed in his hotel room in Dubai on 20 January, a day after arriving on a visit, and that an investigation was under way.

He did not give any details about how Mr Mabhouh died, but his family said doctors who had examined his body determined that he had died after receiving a massive electric shock to the head. They also found evidence that he had been strangled, they added.

Blood samples sent to a French laboratory confirmed he was killed by electric shock, after which the body was sent to Syria, they said.

Mr Mabhouh's family also said he had survived two Israeli assassination attempts, including a poisoning six months ago in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, which left him unconscious for 30 hours.

Later, Dubai's government said police had identified suspects in the murder, describing them as "mostly holders of European passports", and saying that they were working with Interpol to apprehend them.

"Preliminary investigations indicate that the crime was committed by a professional criminal gang that was following the victim before he came to the United Arab Emirates" on 19 January, a statement said.

European passports = Definitely Mossad. Good job.

So who is lying Maan or Hamas? I tend to believe Hamas over Maan.

Thing is, it benefits the Islamist mindset to die as a shahid rather than of 'natural causes'. But then again, they can claim we created cancer too...

Hamas man was 'suffocated with hotel pillow', says Dubai Police chief

Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Police, reserved from giving details about the crime scene saying the cause of death is by suffocation.

Dubai: Dubai Police on Saturday said they are pulling out all stops in pursuit of the killers of senior Hamas military commander, Mahmoud Al Mabhouh.

Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Police, reserved from giving details about the crime scene saying the cause of death is by suffocation. "Forensic examination point out that the deceased was suffocated with a pillow in his hotel room," he told Gulf News without commenting on whether he was electrocuted or tortured.

Mahmoud Al Mabhouh, 50, who managed to escape previous assassination attempts, was found killed in his hotel room a day after he arrived to the country. Dubai Police did not reveal the identities of the suspects.

Read the Gulf News editorial on the case

"From our investigations and evidences collected from the crime scene, we have the identities of the people involved including the killer and the master mind behind this crime. It is a professional criminal group," he said.

A security source said that surveillance cameras in the hotel captured the images of the suspects.

Hamas said the Israeli intelligence unit, Mossad, was behind the assassination of Mabhouh, one of the founders of Hamas' military wing, the Ezz Al Deen Al Qassam Brigades.

According to Lt Gen Dahi, they have send requests through the Interpol to get more information about the suspects and whether the passports they were carrying were authentic. Lt Gen Dahi refused to reveal the European countries they are approaching. He said he expects cooperation from the authorities.

"We are approaching all the channels including embassies and consulates to get more information on the suspects," he said.

"European countries don't extradite suspects but we will demand for the suspects to be tracked," he said.

"The big question to ask is how Hamas allowed such an important figure like Al Mabhouh travel without protection. He didn't have any escort or guard and they should have sought the assistance from the authorities in Dubai to provide him with security, " he said.

"If this is how they handle matters then they have no knowledge on security matters," he said.

When asked on the reasons for his presence in Dubai, he said, "I don't know. All we know is a Palestinian entered on a visit visa to the country. His last name, Al Mabhouh, was missing from his passport."

    Mossad role?

Lt Gen Dahi did not confirm or deny whether the Mossad is behind the assassination of Al Mabhouh, as claimed by Hamas Movement, but referred to an article in Sharq Al Awsat quoting an article published in the Israeli daily newspaper, Yediot Ahronot.

"The Israeli expert, [Ron Ben Yishai] stated that indicators from the crime point out to the involvement of the Mossad in the operation," he said.

Al Mabhouh's brother, Fayed was qouted by AFP saying, "The first results of a joint investigation by Hamas and the UAE show he was killed by an electrical appliance that was held to his head. He was then strangled."

Hamas says he was killed by other Arabs, possibly other Hamas members or arms dealers.

    Even more bizarre:

    http://elderofziyon.blogspot.com/201...-sideshow.html

Muhammed Nasser, one of the Hamas members who some reported (apparently mistakenly) as having been arrested in Syria as a potential collaborator in his assassination, has just muddied the waters a little more.

Nasser is saying that Mabhouh was being tracked by Arab national intelligence agencies who fear the growth of Islamist movements. He says that Mabhouh would complain to him about how they are following him, "haunting him day and night."

The commenters at Firas Press are astonished that a Hamas leader would say anything to deflect the blame towards Israel.

In general, the rumors about Mabhouh are now far outstripping the facts that are being reported in the Arab press.

It might have been Israelis, Egyptians and Jordanians all working together..... who knows. I am very lost with all these Arab politics.

But I really like how Dubai has indicated that they are going to prohibit Jews from entering. Funny stuff.
