Where is the desert where the Ancient Israelites camped for 40 years?

Where is the desert where the Ancient Israelites camped for 40 years?

Is it somewhere in the sinai peninsula? somewhere around jordan? in the arabian deserts? adjacent to ancient canaan?

No one's really ever been able to pin that down. If you read "Walking the Bible" there's quite an awful lot of lay discussion on that.

Yes, Sinai seems to make most sense.

    Why not Ethiopia?
As a youth I used to weep in butcher's shops.

The eastern Sinai gets my vote.

And yet they approached the promised land from the east across the Jordan. So they would have need to cross Sinai, the Negev, cross into what is now Jordan and then back west again.

Well as long as they were south of Moab and Edom (and some Bedouins west and east of each- non factors IMO- also doubtfully as far as Ammon) they could have been anywhere... including modern day southern Israel. Also (mana etc notwithstanding) I'd argue pastoral economy... meaning sheep/goats moving back and forth. In 40 years they could have been to India and back a few times. There was probably a strategic encampment and some rather rich pasture land + access to sea food etc, possibly close to the trade routes would put them on an axis from Eastern Sinai to the border of Moav. overtime they worked their way into mainstay Canaanite land, probably (extra biblical) with the attrition the latter were having with both Arabs and Arameans.

It seems to be The Arabian Desert, later known as The Sinai Region. The stretch of desert from Mt. Sinai (Horeb) to Marah, was known as "The Wilderness of Sin" which was named after the Egyptian goddess, "Sin."

Nobody really knows. It's a matter of faith, and trust, anyway. Chag sameach.

You are correct. It is entirely a matter of faith and trust, and no evidence. All these thousands of years of digging, and no one has found a single artefact that this mythical event took place. No one even knows when it was supposed to have happened.

The proof that it happened is in every Jew that survives the constant antisemetism and delegitimisation that antisemites like you deliver. Keep it up. it draws the Jewish nation closer together. whether they are from Haredim or secular, it just draws them closer and strengthens their bond. You will lose in the end and I think you know this so sit back and take it while we enjoy your death throws.
