Edward Said's daughter: I'm Arab-American - and Jewish
That's how she's promoting herself in this one Jewish press article makes no issue out of the headline "Edward Said's daughter: I'm Arab-American - and Jewish" even though she was born to a Christian Arab and Lebanese Quaker.

She has a one woman show produced by NY Theater Workshop (home of the Rachel Corrie debacle), and she's claiming she was raised as a New York Jew. Or amongst them and easily mistaken for one? Or....?
At least the NY Times points out the discrepancy.
http://theater.nytimes.com/2010/02/1....html?ref=artsIn the first minutes of “Palestine,” her one-woman show at the Fourth Street Theater, Najla Said announces, “I grew up as a Jew in New York City.” Except that she didn’t. Ms. Said is a hyphenated-hyphenate, a Palestinian-Lebanese-American Christian. And, oh yes, she’s the daughter of Edward W. Said.
Something rubs me the wrong way about this whole thing. Here description of her father acting like an factual authority on a situation he hadn't seen first hand offers some insight at least.
