    Israeli Music

All right guys. I listen to Galgalatz using an iPhone app, and hear a bunch of songs that I really like. Problem is, I don't speak Hebrew(yet), but would like to know their names...

So, if you could, link me some good Israeli music!

    My own contributions:

Also, I am going to vaguely describe the song I am talking about. Male singer, acoustic rock sounding... played often. that is all I know. :P and i think he says some A word like algooah or something... or maybe it's a woman

    Namaste Dru,
Welcome to the Israel Forum. The first song is "Tezi Meakelim" by Sarit Hadad (one of my favorite performers)! Here is another link to it:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRllVYfg2E0

The second song is identified by the poster at the link as "Song by Sivan Shavit - Kiss Me"

Here is an even better song by Sarit Haddad called "Chagigah" ("Celebrate")

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0YlO...eature=related

Here is a link to a song by Gilad Segev called "Ishah Mehashamayim" which means "A woman from heaven"
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDMDR...ure=plpp_video

Here's another song I like by Dana Berger called "Chamimut Cholefet" ("Fleeting Warmth")

    Enjoy!
"If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither, let my tongue cleave to my palate if I do not remember you, if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest joy." (Ps. 137: 5-7)"

"Any generation in which the Temple is not built, it is as if it had been destroyed in their times" (Yerushalmi, Yoma 1a).

Dru, another song you might like is Shirat HaSticker ("the Sticker Song") by Hadag Nachash ("the Snake Fish"). The lyrics come from common bumper stickers.

    Re: Israeli Music

To all lovers of Israeli music:

much like all over the western world, the last decade has seen a boom in Israeli "indie" music - music made by artists who are not backed by big publishers and use social media to spread their art.
most of them sing in English (again, following a worldwide trend). Perhaps the most famous is Asaf Avidan. yes, the lead singer is male...
another good one (this time in Hebrew) is Carolina.

    enjoy!

    Sharon

    Re: Israeli Music

Does anyone know any good resources for finding out news related to Israeli music releases (in English)? There used to be an amazing website called kikar-israel.com where I got all of my information and discovered new songs but the site got taken down.

If not, does anyone know when Sarit Hadad is coming out with her next album? Thanks!

Currently, all my sources are in Hebrew. I will search for something, SaritFan.
Are you interested only in Mizrahi music style?

I've listened to (and still enjoy) many genres but my favorite is definitely Mizrahi. Thanks for searching for me! .

    Re: Israeli Music

The only music I like is Klezmer. With requests for forgiveness in advance, all new age music, to me at least, reeks of cultural degeneracy. I am willing to admit that I may have an erroneous view of this aspect of culture, and I am willing to hear opposite views. I do cut some slack for certain other music genres, such as Western Classical and traditional Chinese music. But, generally, I find non-Klezmer to be "intellectually lazy."
