Does G-d have a sense of humor? What does the scriptures say?
Does G-d have a sense of humor? What does the scriptures say?
You mean you don't think 'No more water, the fire next time' isn't hysterically funny? It is to me.
Check out these verses Agnostheist:
Ps. 2:4; 37:13; 59:8; Proverbs 1:26
"If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither, let my tongue cleave to my palate if I do not remember you, if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest joy." (Ps. 137: 5-7)"
"Any generation in which the Temple is not built, it is as if it had been destroyed in their times" (Yerushalmi, Yoma 1a).
Mountain look very spectacular from distance. Prostitutes look very beautiful when they make-up. War stories are very interesting. All these three things are interesting from distance.
God has a Jewish sense of humor.
from 20,000 feet up everything looks kinda funny.
Agnostheist,
You should Read G.K. Chesterton's commentaries on God. They are very funny.
100,000 years ago some hominid ancestor was running from a leopard and he prayed to God to burn it with fire. That's why we have global warming today.
As an Atheist, I would think that the gods, or the God, would have to have a sense of humor to sit around for eternity, forced by their own decree to watch over billions of humans all day and all night. He, or She, or They, constantly and eternally witness rapes, abuse, murder, theft, every different kind of porn, sexual abuse, war, holocaust, genocide, ethnic cleansing, ignorance, mistreatment and torture of animals, and occasionally, just occasionally, once in a while, the Gods witness a human doing something good; and then the God, or the Gods, laugh very loudly, which is the cause of all of the tornados and earthquakes and floods and hurricanes in this world, which provides He, She, or Them with an additional chuckle.
We do not know, but it's possible.
I think humans must depress God an oughful lot, because He seems depressed in the Bible by humanity in general. I read some of the banned from the bible book of enoch and it was really scary the way it made God seem to think of humanity.
He will play your own game,,,,,for awhile
