    What is a fair price?

    http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Ne...sh.aspx/208837
How much should Israel be willing to pay for Gilad Shalit?
Would any price set a precedent?
In my opinion Israel should try to exact his release without concessions.
Either extract one of their senior members as an exchange, cut off vital services or perform excursions into Gaza to force his release.
    What say you?

Zero. Israel needs to declare Shalit KIA and stop all discussions.

if i were in charge, i would be be air dropping millions of those pretty leaflets all over gaza saying if gilad shalit isnt released and handed over to the israel border guards in 48yrs, all hell will break lose and the last gaza war where 1100 of you terrorists were killed will seem like a normal gaza afternoon compared to what will be unleashed.

or i would do a deal with the hamas terrorists where i would put 100 of the most wanted arab murderes in israeli jails on a bus and send it to gaza but with a time bomb under it designed to go off while all the terrorists are still inside the bus and well inside gaza and young gilad is safe in the land of milk and honey.

I often thought of a leaflet drop. Instructions to pack on one side and a map on the other.

What good are leaflets? Does public opinion in the Gaza Strip matter?
Rather than give our enemies warning that we are coming, much better to reoccupy Gaza and dismantle it's terrorist infastructure with no warning whatsoever.

Leaflets dropped in arab vilages between the green line and Hebron explaining that people should stay in their homes because of a possible biological contamination would surely have a desired effect.
Would they obey of just run like crazy? It would solve much of the border issues problem.
Lets face it arabs and Jews are not going to live together or even in close proximity peacefully. There has to be MUCH movement of population before any final status of borders. No way should it only be the Jews moving.

the real terrorist "infrastructure" in gaza is the brains of the people, or lack of a brain is more like it.

destroing a few quassam launching pads will do nothing long term. they will simply re arm in a few months.
Destroying terrorist infrastructure in gaza means destroying the brains of the people.

Because first they THINK of performing a terrorist act before they act it out, if their minds werent poisoned with hatred of jews and ill informed lies about israel, they wouldnt have
elected hamas as their govt in the first place, knowing full well their charter.

So the muslim brain is the real terrorist infrastructure that must be "taken out".

Gaza has become a cesspit and TBH is no real problem that cant be dealt with swiftly. What I see as a huge problem Is Judeah and Samaria. The communities there seem to have no real contiguity other than highways. Hebron seems quite Isolated as do many large Jewish towns. Isreal needs the high ground for security and yet most of it seems to be occupied by arab townships. Offering the arabs Israeli citizenship so as to embrace these areas is totally out of the question and yet allowing them to be hostile neighbours is suicidal. For a secure Israel they need to go. This is why there is deadlock in border issues and it is very difficult to deal with the problem without people becoming very upset.

Not firebombing Gaza seems fair to me as compensation.

Dropping leaflets just gives them time to hide behind their children or elderly.

Yes, hospitals, schools, and mosques are very popular hiding places for terrorists and their arms caches.

What about taking Hamas leadership hostages and suggest to swap them for Gilad?
It's a simmetrical action and the hostages would in fact be the ultimate culprits.

there is no loyalty amongst theives, if israel kidnapped all hamas leaders and said give us gilad or they will die, the lower level commanders wouldnt do it,
hamas is an organisation that would sacrifice a million of its people to destroy israel, sacrificing a few hamas leaders is nothing to this pack of wolves.

    another option israel has besides

1.)threatening to bomb gaza into oblivion if gilad isnt released within 48hrs.

2.) releasing 1000 arab murderers from israeli jails for gillad.

the last option is for israel to send in say 300 of its top elite commandos, divided them into say 6 groups of 50 and search gaza for him,
supported by apache gunships for cover etc.....
would this kind of option work??

i know something like the last option does carry risks, and would israel risk even say 10 of its elite commandos for 1 gilad shalit?
    probably not.

a final option although it would be "collective punishment" would be to threaten to turn off gazas fresh water supply if gilad isnt released in say 48hrs.
im guessing israel maintains gazas water pumps from the outside right? so this could be done right??

As Jericho alluded to, there is no loyalty to anyone in the arab world. How could there be? Men have their wives and daughters killed for showing their face in public or other such lewd behaviour. Life is worth nothing as mothers dress their children in suicide vests and kiss them goodbye. You cut the tail off a reptile and it grows another.
Have you ever noticed the beautifull stone walls around English fields? This is because someone divided the land and cleared every inch of it stone by stone. That's what it will take in Gaza.
