    Antisemitism in Ireland today

    http://www.thecommentator.com/index....nd_jew_hating_

In 1904, Limerick’s Jewish community was devastated by an infamous pogrom that saw them largely driven from the city. The words that catalysed this pogrom come as no surprise to anyone: the Jews, said Father John Creagh (who kick-started the activity), are usurers, freemasons, Christ-killers.

But okay, that was 1904. Things have moved on, right? Certainly, modern Ireland is more accepting of homosexuals and has liberalised attitudes towards women. It’s not quite the same story for one group though. That’s right, the Jews. The JC reports that in a new study by sociologist-priest Father Micheál Mac Gréil, twenty-five percent of Irish people wouldn’t allow Israelis to become Irish citizens, and eleven percent of Irish men and women wouldn’t allow any Jew from taking up citizenship. Forty percent of Irish people wouldn’t allow a Jew into their family.

All of this is of course shocking, but the most telling statistic is this: within the 18-25 age grouping, the percentage of people who couldn’t handle a Jew being in their family was higher at forty-six percent. These figures surely act as a damning indictment against the indoctrination of students by that unhealthy cocktail of Islamists, leftists and ‘liberals’. The Irish intelligentsia and liberalculturati are the same folks as the Islington social oligarchs who saw Arafat as the new Gandhi and Sharon as the new Hitler. Every corner of Irish culture is poisoned by this vile anti-Semitism.

This does not surprise me in the least. It is pretty much the same in most European nations. What does surprise me is the negative attitudes to alcoholics - then again no, that actually makes sense. There's a whole lot of self loathing and guilt living on this rock. I like Sir Bob's suggestion, expand your minds, I read that as an invitation to consume psychedelic drugs. The Middle East needs to be hit in the face with some hard-boiled hippyness.

Hmm... I met a bookstore keeper in Tel Aviv who just happens to be from Belfast. The thing that I remember from his story is that there was "hardly any antisemitism. they're too busy fighting each other".

Raises the question: Can Jews exist without the antagonist in society?

hardly any antisemitism ... displayed at Jews in Ireland because there's hardly any Jews in Ireland, that messages was pointed out more eloquently in Ulysses by the main character's Professor.

Loads of anti-Semitism displayed towards Jews living in Israel & the USA, very thin veneer of anti-Zionism on most of that, lots of left-wing sentiment over here hence the anti-Semitism displayed towards Jews living in Israel & the USA ( there is really not a lot of difference between Ireland and the U.K. in that regard, same Guardian reading idiots ).

By the by, let no one kid themselves into believing that the various orange order and loyalist freedom fighters lodges actually give a crap about Jews, Judaism, Israel above and beyond the quaint historical and religious aspect - their main interest in you people exists because the Republican / Nationalist freedom fighting murders have sided with the Arab camp. And ditto for the Republican / Nationalist freedom fighting murders interest in those said Arabs.

Had things gone differently in choice making back in the 70's the same Israeli flag waving loyalists would be screaming hellfire and brimstone at Israel like so many in their sister churches across the water in bonnie Scotland do.

What's going to be interesting and somewhat amusing to watch is how groups like the EDL - who for the life of themselves cannot shake the scummy hitler saluting core from which they obtain momentum ( who could? it'd be like ripping out your car engine mid-acceleration in the hopes of gaining speed ) - cause conflict of interest within the N.I. Loyalist camp regarding Jews and Israel.
