    Who are the Flotillanauts?

    http://www.yourish.com/2011/06/27/14604

Alice Walker is the most literate of the Flotilla Fools. She explains, via CNN, why she is doing this:
Our boat, The Audacity of Hope, will be carrying letters to the people of Gaza. Letters expressing solidarity and love. That is all its cargo will consist of. If the Israeli military attacks us, it will be as if they attacked the mailman. This should go down hilariously in the annals of history. But if they insist on attacking us, wounding us, even murdering us, as they did some of the activists in the last flotilla, Freedom Flotilla I, what is to be done?
Translation: Ooooh, look how brave I am. They might kill me, but I’m going anyway—to bring my valuable cargo of letters expressing solidarity and love
That’s funny. I thought the flotilla’s purpose was to bring humanitarian aid into Gaza. At the moment, The Audacity of Hope is stuck in a Greek port undergoing a seaworthiness exam. The crew now includes Ha’aretz’s most anti-Israel reporter, Amira Hass, who is documenting the daily routine of “What to do in case of an Israeli army attack” lectures.
There are nine other passengers in their sixties, and many others between 40 and 60.
So why are they doing this?
“I’m appalled, as are many friends and colleagues, by the conditions in Gaza and by the silence of the international community regarding the ongoing blockade in Gaza,” says Lyn Adamson, trying to explain why they are taking this calculated risk.
Adamson, 59, a Quaker from Toronto, is active in a number of social justice advocacy groups.
“In the absence of effective action by the international community to pressure Israel and Egypt to change their policies … we, at the grass roots, must take action,” she says.
Note the ridiculousness of the quotes. There is no humanitarian crisis. Gazans are now importing luxury cars through the smuggling tunnels, and building luxury hotels and malls. Israeli allows everything but weapons and construction material inside. Oh. Wait. They’re allowing construction material now, too. So why is the flotilla still coming? Let’s go back to Alice Walker again:
It is justice and respect that I want the world to dust off and put – without delay, and with tenderness – back on the head of the Palestinian child. It will be imperfect justice and respect because the injustice and disrespect have been so severe. But I believe we are right to try.
Ah. “Justice and respect.” This is how, she says, she is repaying her debt to the Jews who marched with Martin Luther King: By freeing the Gazans from oppression. Alice Walker is a deluded fool. The only oppression Gazans are suffering from is the oppression of Hamas rule. There was no blockade until Hamas took over the territory. Since that time, Sharia law has been slowly but surely enforced on the people of Gaza. Women are being forced to wear headscarves. Christians are being driven out; their churches and meeting centers bombed. Segregation of the sexes is being enforced. Has Alice Walker written a word about that?
    No.
The term “useful idiots” has been used so much in the blogosphere that it is nearly meaningless now. But these fools are, in truth, the perfect example of Stalin’s useful idiots. The publicity they reap for the Hamas overlords is worth millions. News organizations are “embedding” reporters in the flotilla boats, as if this were a war against Israel and their reporters need to write about it. And yet, this is a war against Israel, waged by terrorists, and fought by useful idiots like Medea Benjamin and Alice Walker.

Didn't Egypt open up their border to Gaza (as I believe Dayag pointed out on another thread)? Why can't they just deliver their love letters through Egypt? Oh, my bad, that wouldn't garnish any negative publicity towards Israel. Seriously, though, is there another reason I don't know about?

    Re: Who are the Flotillanauts?

This is ******g re*****d.. They spend time to organize flotilla and stuff... ffs. I'm so overwhelmed by my work shift that I can't even get a chance to see my 6 months old baby awake when I finally get home after a stressing work day. Nowadays also working at saturdays for making extra bucks for fuel and these jerks just get organized, stop working and hop in a boat with entire family. I mean wtf?!

    Re: Who are the Flotillanauts?

Moronic hypocritical leftists. This is what they typically say about the Gaza blockade ...

preventing civilians from living normal lives as a punsihment for its leaders is cruel and injust
I read this comment in one of the talkbacks in Haaretz.

Now ask them what they say about the BDS against Israel which they so enthusiastically support ...

    Re: Who are the Flotillanauts?

Talking about useful idiots, the Haaretz editorial advocates that Israel should escort the flotilla into Gaza as a means of robbing them of oxygen and publicity.

What they won't tell you is what Israel should do after the flood gates would open subsequently, with a thousand vessels reaching Gaza, many of them equipped with the latest weapons with which Hamas would be able to murder Israeli civilians more efficiently ...

A bit of common sense, determination persistence and self belief would be a welcome change certainly from the Israeli left but even from the Israeli right. Appeasement is never the correct solution.

In all fairness, Egypt doesn't allow transporting goods through the border if I'm not mistaken.

Of course, this does not change the big picture - Israel offered the last flotilla the chance to deliver the goods through land, they said no. Obviously these guys would reject the offer as well.

Also, the thread's title should read flotillanuts.

    Re: Who are the Flotillanauts?

Here is my prediction (hope?) ...

Israel has learnt from the last episode and even if the bastard trouble makers make it through the blockade, what they will experience will make them wish that they hadn't started the venture. Make them pay a price ...

I on the contrary wish for the opposite - I hope the IDF will be able to arrest them with no deaths or fire-arm wounds. Israel needs to have an appropiate answer for these real life trolls, an answer that won't end up with UN inquiries.

    watOn

Please don't imply that I wish to see the IDF kill them. I did NOT say any such thing. Paying a price need not mean killing them. There are other ways of extracting a price from these mongrels.

    Re: Who are the Flotillanauts?

No problems. I guess I was a bit cryptic and I understand why you assumed the worst from me but I definitely agree with you that killing or even physically hurting these dumb asses would not serve Israel's interests. As I said, there are other ways though ...

I say we put them all in a room and make them listen to the Hatikva for 48 hours straight....:-)

Imagine a post-nationalist, liberal having to listen to the ultimate expression of Jewish nationalism again and again and again. Those losers would think twice before sailing this way again.

    Re: Who are the Flotillanauts?

Back to Alice Walker (I know she was covered in another thread in the past) who plans on sailing in one of the flotillas. In her interview, she not only calls Israel a terrorist state, but America a terrorist state:

    http://www.foreignpolicy.com/article...lker?page=full

FP: How is the United States a terrorist country?

AW: It is. Absolutely, it is. It has terrorized people around the globe for a very long time. It has fought against countries that have tried to change their governments, that have tried to have democracies, and the United States has intervened and interfered, like in Guatemala or Chile. I feel that it is so unreasonable, and I don't quite understand how they can claim everyone else is a terrorist and they are not when so many people right this minute are terrified of the drones, for instance, in the war in Afghanistan. The dropping of bombs on people -- isn't that terrorism?
I would also like to point out a talk back. Why did I choose this one? Because the poster starts out by saying there are no fan of Israel, but points out Walker's hypocrisy:

    AVILLA

    June 23, 2011

I have never rolled my eyes so far.

Lord knows I'm no fan of Israel, but honestly: "They are the ones with the slingshot. They are the ones with the rocks and relatively not-so-powerful rockets." Is Ms Walker laboring under the delusion that if Hamas et al DID have access to higher-end weapons, that they would not use it? They have rocks and not-so-powerful rockets only--and not IEDs or heavy machinery--because Israel blockades the hell out of them. That's the point. It's brutal but it works.

And Israel is the biggest terrorist in the ME... really... Assad has killed a thousand of his own people in three months but ISRAEL is the biggest terrorist... alrighty then.
What is sad is that I remember watching the movie "The Color Purple" as a kid and really loving it. How can a woman with such a warped vision of reality have written such a brilliant movie? [SIGH]

    How about 48 days straight?

Then again, maybe not. That would be abuse of dumb animals.
