The committee has accepted Israel's claim - as has the Turkel committee which investigated the incident (where there were two foreign observers ) - that Israel's maritime closure of the Gaza Strip is legal, and that Israel acted lawfully in deciding to stop the flotilla

This counts for nothing?

However, the report harshly criticized the way Israel acted in doing so; these actions led to the deaths of nine Turks, members of the radical Islamic group IHH, who were shot by Israeli naval commandos aboard the Mavi Marmara

Yea, right, the IDF soldiers should have just allowed themselves to be beaten up, stabbed and thrown overboard peacefully. But no, they over-reacted. What BS !

Like I said in the past, we could lie down and let the Arabs run over us with bulldozers and the UN would still pass a resolution that Israel acted with disproportionate force, which would pass with 97 votes in favor, 2 against, and 31 abstentions.

Almost everyone loves to hate Lieberman, but sometimes I think he is the one with the sane mind, while everyone else's has run a muck.

The fact that the blockade has been recognised as legal is a major success, it will be interesting to see how the human rights groups which have argued it is illegal react.

Anyway, I don't think Israel should apologise. It's futile, Turkish foreign policy is not dictated by sentimentality. They made a deliberate and calculated decision to pull away from Israel, no apology will change that.

I think the military establishment speaks for the the military establishment alone. Israel and Greece have a broad suite of cooperative functions and interagency participation with one another and this makes Turkey nervous and upset. And let's not ignore that military sales to Turkey could be a massive thing for Israel and that some of their senior staff may be looking to money and only money.
