Turkey has recalled its tourism attaché from Israel and frozen the budget of the Turkish Tourism Office in Tel Aviv. A Turkish source said that the attaché was recalled because of the "Israeli boycott" of Turkey since the Mavi Marmara incident in May 2010. He said that the absence of Israeli tourists in Turkey meant that there was no point in investing in tourist promotion efforts in Israel. Israeli tourists have been avoiding vacations at the Turkish resort of Antalya since Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan verbal abuse against Israel and due to humiliating experiences at Istanbul's airport.
