I think he will treading lightly until he gets the military to give up power.

In his first address to the nation, just hours after being declared Egypt's new president, Islamist Mohamed Morsi pledged to "preserve international accords and obligations" - a reference to the peace deal with Israel.

However, Morsi did not specifically mention Israel or the 1979 peace treaty.

That last part bothers me. From what he has done, and the way he has dealt with Israel, I wonder why Jews vote for him at all....even discounting his basically muslim background.....why?

The so-called "Arab Spring" is nothing more than a false democratic 'makeover' of the Middle East designed to make new radicalized, Islamist, but “democratic” appearing regimes appear more palatable to western eyes in order to 'drum up' western public opinion support for pre-determined and hoped for events (like the fall of non-Sunni rulers and declaration of a Palestinian state) they expect to make unfold. These democratic regimes are no more democratic than Vichy France.

As for President Obama, I don't think he considers the further radicalization of the Mideast a "disaster" for him. In fact, like former President Jimmy Carter who let the Shah fall, I think allowing Mubarak to fall, is something Obama considers a good thing, to wit:

It should be noted that the "Freedom Agenda" for the Middle East was a Bush policy which has been carried forward by Obama. I, like many of you here, think our policy is very naive.

We see how Mohamed Mursi is holding up his end. Sinai infiltration is an excuse to station Egyptian forces there ostensibly to root it out. It is really to position them for action against Israel in the tide of violence they hope spills over into Israel as a prelude to the declaration of a Palestinian state and Iranian attack in support thereof.
