    Muslim Faithful Hear Wrathful Prayer

MINA, Saudi Arabia - The cleric who delivered the sermon Friday at the annual hajj pilgrimage had a simple request: God grant victory to Muslims fighting around the world.
The prayer by Sheik Saleh al-Taleb to 500,000 people in Mecca's Grand Mosque and nearby streets came as the hajj neared its climax.

``Oh God, give victory to the mujahedeen [holy warriors] everywhere,'' al-Taleb said. ``Give them victory in Palestine. Oh God, make the Muslims triumphant and destroy their enemies, and make this country and other Muslim countries safe.

``Oh God, inflict your wrath on the criminal Zionists.''

After the sermon, pilgrims headed to the tent city of Mina, the last stop before they go to Mount Arafat for a day of prayers and soul-searching that is the main ritual of the annual gathering.

Rajab al-Arabi, a Belgian pilgrim of Tunisian origin, said that hearing a Grand Mosque sermon is ``something one wishes all one's life. It's a dream come true.''

But he added that he had expected a stronger message.

``In Belgium, we have Egyptian and Moroccan clerics who freely criticize the hardships of Muslims, which includes the injustice that has befallen Iraq and the occupation it is under,'' he said.

After the sermon, nearly 2 million pilgrims walked and took buses to Mina for a night of rest before heading to Arafat.

Time spent at Arafat, a gentle hill 12 miles southwest of Mecca, is believed to represent the Day of Judgment, when Islam says every person will stand before God and answer for his deeds.

Male pilgrims wore seamless white robes. Women were covered from head to foot except for their hands and faces.

Nigerian Abdul Rashid Gbenga said he couldn't wait to leave for Arafat because ``it is the closest place to God on Earth. ... This is the closest thing to Judgment Day.''

Fatima Farouk, another Nigerian who was performing the hajj for the first time, said that despite the demanding journey, she was thrilled ``because after Mount Arafat, you're almost promised heaven.''

Muhammad, Islam's prophet, delivered his last sermon at Mount Arafat in March 632, three months before he died.

Police were on high alert after six Saudi security agents and a civilian were killed in a shootout with suspected terrorists in the Saudi capital of Riyadh on Thursday.

The battle did not mean much to the pilgrims, 500 miles to the west.

They said that they were too overwhelmed by the hajj experience to worry about terrorism.

``These holy lands fill your heart with such genuine emotions,'' said an Egyptian computer scientist, Professor Do'oa Labib. ``I feel that with every step I take, my heart is gradually purified from any blemishes and becomes totally dedicated to God.''

As long as they pander to Islam and its sponsors, you are right, Lamplighter... and it seems as if they (US/Israel) are doing just that!

If you mean dropping a bomb on them,I don't think that will change their minds.
The question is how do we drag the muslim community into the 21st century.
How do we get them to accept those with other beliefs.
How do we get them to change their message of hatred & war to one of peace and accommodation.
Looks to me like the inhabitants of this planet are in for another 1000 years of death & destruction because I don't see any way they will change in the near future.
If only we could find a planet to live on that could sustain human life.
We could get away from all this hatred & strife.
But then again, the liberals would demand we allow open immigration, and the whole thing would start up all over again.
Sorry, just musing....I'm so fed up.My cousin has a friend that takes the #19 bus in jerusalem. She was late that day & missed the bus.It was that close.

Aye, Frizzer, you are dead-bang on... thank G-d, your cousin's friend missed the bus: I don't think I would be as brave as the Israelis are under the circumstances. I can only imagine, how we in Canada would react; there would be many cases of cabin-fever; of that I am certain!
    Cheers

These Sheiks are like g-ds on earth if they told their followers to pee and vacate their bowels in their pants they would do it.

Ok! So we don’t kill these fanatics they must be reformed somehow. I don’t believe in miracles, Islam must be brought to its knees by force.

It seems to me that the only way to govern Muslims is by having a brutal dictator that’ll lob off their heads if they blink. When you look at the whole of Islam it’s made up of 1,000’s of tribes that’s ready to murder each other and yet they are bound together through religion. But, but, but what about Turkey? The Turkish military could be viewed as being secular at the moment but the country has moved towards Islamic fundamentalism.

The Shiites and Sunnis have splinter groups within Islam yet one thing remains constant in Islam and that is a Jew is a Jew and an infidel is an infidel. Islam with its Muslims has extremely low tolerance for other religions and if they ever get the upper hand in the west synagogues and churches will be leveled. I suppose it wont matter if there are places for Jews and infidels to worship because they’ll be eliminated.

In the past there were Britain and the allies to stop Hitler (The leaders of Britain, Canada, US, etc didn’t give two hoots in hell of the plight of the Jews prior to and post WWII although the US did eventually pressure England to give the Jews Israel) who’ll stop Islam? Bush? Blair? Chirac? The US Democrats? LOL

There’s 100’s of millions young Muslims that have their eyes on the west and they’ll come if not now later. As I write now there’s a steady stream of Muslims making their way into the EU through Hungary and they’ll keep coming. One Europe goes you can kiss Israel goodbye and shortly thereafter North America will be overrun.

Sharia law as written by the great prophet Mohammed will rule the planet one day.

I disagree, as the islamic filth will try, but it will lead to either their ultimate destruction, or that of human civilization.

I can see where this is heading, with islamic nations eventually getting ahold of nukes and threatening european nations and the US, just as n korea does now and iran is trying to. My hope is that the people in the west will finally wake up and see what happens when muslims enter their country in significant numbers. Islam is NOT a religion of peace, and the only way to deal with it is to destroy it.

How do you visualize Islamic fundamentalism in the EU a decade from now? Less or more of a problem?

I see only growth, there’s certainly no shrinkage or less support for Islamic fundamentalism among Muslims in the last decade.

There’s a tremendous pressure placed on politicians by Islam to crack down on anything negative that anyone may say that offends them. I think it was January 01, 2003 that new laws were passed in the EU to come down hard on anyone that says anything offensive about a specific group of people.

Killroy is facing a prison term of seven (7) years for speaking out against Islam and they may just make him a test case. This is only the beginning!

No! Europe can be written off IMO politicians there are running scared and they don’t know what to do at this point. Consider the growth of Islam within the EU in the last 50 years and imagine what’ll happen in the next 50.

If this forum would have existed 50 years ago and I would have posted that by 2003 there would be 1,000,000 Muslims that will attend mosques in Britain and attendance would surpass Anglican Church goers I’d be called nuts.

    Why don’t I make a prediction now!

By 2053 there wont be a church or synagogue standing in the EU they’ll be burnt to the ground by tolerant Islam.

Who’s going to stop Islam? Bush? I don’t think so! If the Democrats squeeze in you can change the 2053 date to 2023 because they won’t fight Islam. Tony Blair will be history and I doubt that his successor will fight Islam. Islam knows they are holding five aces and they are taking their time to play them.

Students in the US are suspended from school for bringing toy action figures to school they are being brainwashed to become pacifists. The neutering of America you might say! My own kid went though that in grade one when he drew a knight with a sword and the teacher tried to convince him that it wasn’t a sword.

I don’t think the average individual knows what the hell goes on in public schools today.

Not much to say in reply, Lamplighter, but you should set up a "(mis) fortune-teller booth... in my opinion, your predictions will be proven right on!

"A (mis)fortune-teller booth" ? That's good, Richard. I shall use it in the future and I won't give you credit either.

You know it's really wierd how things turn out. When I was young, it was always the Soviets or the Chinese that posed the threat to the world, with their nukes and their desire to see communism spread thruought the world......who would have thought it would turn out to be the muslims? We didn't even consider them. They were just people of another religion.Who knew?

I to am glad that your relative missed the bus that day. I can say that the Americans would not put up with what Israel is putting up with. We would have deportations and internment camps. Not to mention that everyone has a gun here in the USA. The Liberals would try to stop it, but I fear the safest place for Muslims at that point would be in the internment camps. But we do not have the percentage of Islamics that Israel has....so the cases are probably not similar.

Everytime I mention that argument however, and Israeli will come back and talk about world opinion, we are just a little country etc. etc. That may all be very true.

But I keep thinkin of the Israel of 1967. Israel was even a smaller country and there was a whole lot of world opinion (centered around the USSR) which was against Israel.

I just don't see the will to live that I used to see.

I recall those days, Frizzer, we had to duck under our school desks and instructed not open our eyes because the intense bright, flash from the explosion would damage our eye sight. Hind-sight is always 20/20: eye sight, hell, we would have been incinerated.
Now, the school children here are being brain-washed into believing Islam is a peaceful religion, and in some cases they are instructed to read about the Koran. Talk about a lack of foresight... once again, we have the blind leading the blind.

Well it might turn out quite different than my prediction. In the wintertime Northern Europe gets ½ its heat from the Gulf Stream and the other half from the sun.

Some scientists are predicting that Northern Europe will turn into a waste land like Labrador with year round permafrost, in other words that area of Europe will be inhabitable.

    Pictures from Labrador:

    http://www.edu.gov.nf.ca/snow/photo.htm

I imagine that there’ll be widespread panic because food production will grind to an abrupt halt. Perhaps the Portuguese will be able do a bit of ice fishing in Portugal and the Italians can ice skate in the fountain in front of the Vatican.

Europeans should start practicing the art of rubbing noses.

    I don't believe this!
I used to dream about this all the time - the name of the planet in my dream was "Gideon". My husband jokes about it all the time when things look bleak and I'm really down......."There's always Gideon."
