A personal plee to my fellow Jewish forum members

I am not really one to preach morality to anyone else, especially since what I'm about to say applies no less to me than to others.

There have lately been a few threads here, notably here and here where what appear to be unjust accusations and rude - even vile - language is the norm.

For those of us that are religious Jews, some of these posts amount to a terrible desanctification of G-d's name. "Be careful with your words", advise us the sages of the Talmud. May I be able to live up to that myself.

This forum is called the "Israel Forum". Yes, it's like native turf. But let's try and keep our own neighborhood clean. When it's called for, there's no need here to fear to come out swinging but hitting below the belt is still not allowed.

Let us all pick our fights. Let's also remember that it is easy to misconstrue other's emotions and intents as they appear in text that is often quickly pounded out on the keyboard.

    OK, back to our show!

    Oh Jerusalem,

I am entirely with you on this. People should indeed be more careful, and perhaps also give others more credit and pay more attention to what they say and why.

Maybe we should write up a code of conduct and then appoint people to monitor it. Then we can have some nice uniforms made for the monitors, enforcers. Black uniforms to hide the ummm ketup. We will need to appoint a leader.

Then we can segregate those we disagree with. That is the only way we can achieve our goal where we all march in line... line after line of uniform opinions. There will be no dissent. Anyone out of line will be shot. Today Israel forums tomorrow the Internet!

Zis is een goot idea ja nuttie Fritz?

When you two are finished riding on your high horse can I have a turn too? Give others a turn too to take the "holier than thou" horse for a gallop.

Yes. These are normally known as forum rules and moderators respectively. Quite the norm on respectable forums throughout the Internet.

But you appear ignorant of this.

Well, there I was, pointing out a thread where in my opinion you specificly were being unjustifiably attacked by another forum member.

So, where's the high horse here? And "holier than thou" is exactly what I'm complaining about and it's addessed to myself as well.

Did you get a passing grade in reading cognizance in elementary school? You make me wonder.

I have NO complaints about my discussion with David_in_NYC. He hit me and I hit him back. It was fair. I have no complaints. We are a tough lot, us Aussies.

I do not believe it warranted any intervention and no intervention was made. David_in_NYC seems that he can take care of himself and I certainly can.

As for the horse comment, that was tongue in cheek so don't stress over it.

Israel forums is one of the best forums as you can actually have your say. It is like my forum... you should hear what some people say about me... hint => think David_in_NYC, lol, anyway it's cool. NOT censored. The ONLY thing I have ever censored was when a person of Jewish faith posted a direct link to Mein Kampf!! That was made as suggested sites to see... one of the sections. Anyway I deleted that link. I won't have any Nazi propaganda.

There are many forums that are awful and I have been banned from quite a number. I was banned from one in Holland today. They had a "feedback" forum and I said the new design, the grey was too hard to read and they locked it!!! Then in another post I said it wasn't right to lock my post, as I said nothing wrong and they locked that too!!!! Then I told the Dutch in no uncertain terms what I think of them.

Are you listening? This couch is comfy but my session is over I know.

Actually, we already have Rules of the Road that everyone can/should read, a group of dedicated (volunteer) moderators, and a reporting mechanism.

There is also a link at the bottom right of each post that says "report this post to a moderator." Instead of posting about transgressions, or starting threads, we'd appreciate if you'd try reporting violations to us.
