One would think it would be in everyone's interest to give openness about the perpetrators. And then hunt them down and bring them to justice!

It seems that given the large sizes of both France and Spain that ETAs demand for an 8000 sq mile homeland is entirely reasonable. That is only 3.46 times larger than YESHA (8000 square miles versus 2106 square miles) and since the combined land mass of France and Spain is 404,316 square miles holding 100.4 million people (compared to Israel's 7984 square mile total land mass and 6.1 million people) the Basque demands as well as their methods seem entirely within the realm of fair play for freedom seeking peoples.

Moreover there is no reason why Basque can't be granted at least observer status and a permanent mission to the UN. Since the UN has already declared that suicide bombing is acceptable form of resistance to people 'engaged in the struggle for national self determination and freedom' I welcome and bless the Basque drive for a homeland.

    Let freedom ring.

(please note that I not actually being sarcastic - I mean every word.)

How are the Basques different from the Spanish? What do they need a Basque land for? Why? I don't understand why they'd go so far and keep terrorising so long for something so useless.
Neither do I understand why Spain and France don't just give them that little piece to get rid of the terror.

I can imagine some people without any knowledge of the Israel conflict thinking this same thing about Israel and the palestinians. If I'm being simplistic and ignorant, I apologize. I don't know much about it, all I'm seeing is this uselessness and I just don't understand.

Thanks! I fixed it, my mistake. Your name is [deleted] , since we all in first name basis over here, I think we all should share this information, don't you think?
Even though I don't like you one little bit, and NOT because you're a Christian half Arab from Lebanon BUT because you showed great support for Arab terrorism, aspecialy the kind that aims Jews and automaticly believe in ANY blood libel concering our soldiers, no matter how outragously false it is.

Actually, there is plenty of sympathy for dead Israelis here in Europe. [deleted] I'm glad you have this amount of sympathy for European victims of terror.
But little understanding for Israel right of self defense. And this is not an argumant but a fact. Euros sometimes are too much fond with the idea of Jewish victims, they wish us to be victims indefinitly.

Incidentally, what about the Jewish victims of this blast? Where do they fit in?
I always care greatly about Jewish victims, since they are my brotherens. Then about my friends and allies, since I respect them alot, wish them only good and and pray for their swift victory in their war over Islamist terrorism.

AS for the rest... well, I can always say it "tragic" and "most unfortunante".

The Basque are a different nation entirely. Different culture, different language, longer history... The Basque were around since before the Romans. They are almost as old as we Jews are. Definitly the most anciant nation, survived, in Europe, next to the Celts, the Ghals of Ireland, Welsh and Britany, are part of.

Apparently Basque culture predates even the Romans. Their language is unique and $deity only knows what idol or idols they worship. Point is, what's good for the goose, good for the gander. Let's see some Paris metro stations erupt in flames to drive home that point. Maybe when terrorism comes to the Louvre it will finally become a real problem.

Colonialism is only bad if it's white people doing it.

    Leave Rotterdam alone!
Well, it's an entire different story from the Basques, though. As I just learnt from Gil and Mediocrates, they have existed as a nation with own culture even before the Roman times.
The Muslims just recently packed their bags and left Camelland (was that your term, Medio? ) to benefit from our economical situation and to islamize Europe (this last part doesn't go for many of them, though. At least, I don't believe that, but many of you seem to think otherwise).

    That IS a tragedy.
Without sarcasm, hypocrisy or waving them aside as "just some dead Euros, who cares". So many lives taken, worlds destroyed..
    An inhumane massacre.

Ahava - that's West Camel-stan. I think there is a Lonely Planet Guide.

Look it's horrible no matter which way you cut it. But they are dead and maimed and if their deaths are to have any deeper meaning at all perhaps it will be to illuminate to the EU what a monster they have helped to create and feed. If this is happening how does anyone want to wager what the Olympics in Athens will be like? If the British womens' gymnastic team is slaughtered will the UN sit up on its hind legs and demand an apology from Tony Blair?
