Spain Announces Five Arrests in Bombings
MADRID, Spain (AP) - Spain's interior minister Saturday announced the arrest of five suspects in the Madrid bombings, including three Moroccans.
The other two are Spaniards of ``Hindu'' origin, minister Angel Acebes said.
The five were arrested in connection with a cell phone inside an explosives-packed gym bag found on one of the bombed commuter trains.
(Reuters) - Spain's Interior Minister Angel Acebes is set to announce the arrest of at least four Muslims in connection with a series of deadly bombings in Madrid, the web site of newspaper El Mundo said on Saturday.
The Interior Ministry had no immediate comment on the report. Acebes has called a news conference for about 1900 GMT.

They could be related to a Moroccan group, or to... the ETA?
Why are they avoiding al-Quaida again?
From what I've read, the government doesn't want to admit it is Al Qaeda, because then the population will blame them for the attack, because of Spain's support for the Iraq war.

Just note it never stopped and was and still is fuelled by funding from the USA.

Therefore they are seen has having an important responsibility in generating the clash of civilization that lead to 9/11, invasion of Iraq and now the Madrid bombings...
    Like2talk, remember 2 things.

1)Terrorism is terrorism is terrorism. This includes blowing up innocent men, women, children, who do no more than just LIVE. Riding the bus, eating in a restaurant, going out, etc. Regardless of what the government does and regardless whether you agree with it or not (many Israeli citizens do not agree with it), this sort of acts are acts of terrorism, as much as what we saw in Madrid. There is NO moral difference. Terrorism is terrorism is terrorism.

    2)A terrorist is not human.

    AND NEVER FORGET!

The main question is whether the majority of 8 million or so Spaniards who demonstrated against terrorism yesterday will conclude:

    (1) Like it or not, the civilized world is at war with Islamist mass murderers; Israel's fight and Spain's fight are the same thing

    or

    (2) Spain has been punished for a government that supported the US war to topple the Arab hero, Saddam "Butcher of Baghdad" Hussein.

Then the shock would've been twice as much! And this really isn't to say one is worse than the other, regarding the victims, but then the prospect is far more troubling, I mean just think what this actually MEANS! It would mean that the Al Qaida war officially started against Europe.
Now, can you, Ahava, make the difference between common mosque going Moroccan and future al quiada suicide bomber?

An al quida afiliated cell can appear, when ever three muslems meet. Can you make the difference between ordinary muslem civilian and al quida future suicide bomber?

It's worse then the "body snachers"... any person one may know for years, and happance to be a muslem... might become a future al quidia affiliated operative, without any one knowing about that transformation of his, untill it too late!!!

    Article in Spanish:

    http://www.elmundo.es/elmundo/2004/0...079203531.html

    Translation first paragraph:

MADRID. - The minister of the Interior, Acebes Angel, has announced the halting in Madrid of three Moroccans and two Hindu by his presumed entailment with the attacks in the capital the past day 11. In addition, there are two Spaniards of Hindu origin, according to the minister, to whom declaration is being taken them. The arrested ones would be related to the card prepayment found in the knapsack pump that the police deactivated next to the police station of Vallecas.

    End.

There’s a drawing of the devices at the Spanish site.

Ahava... the AQ war against Europe started in 1992 when Yugoslavia disintegrated.

Unfortunately not, if we could, it would be all too easy. Osama Bin Laden looks normal, ok with the beard and stuff, but without that, he has a friendly face..I feel terrible saying this, it's frightening.

It's the scary thing. Though I am certain that one sometimes just KNOWS someone is ok. You just feel that muslim is ok.

Many times a suicide bomber in Israel has been friends with Israelis or done work for them and they had no inclination to distrust him at all. You can read of many such cases on this forum.

My thoughts exactly. I agree with your perception of the translation. None of this is the type of thing one associates with Hindus. The first thoughts that come to mind as usual are..................well, perhaps andak has some ideas.

I saw this on the front page of this board:

Mar 13 - Israeli parliament observes a moment of silence in solidarity with Spanish victims of Muslim terrorist massacre. Deputy Prime Minister Ehud Olmert: "I hope that nobody fools himself into thinking that it could happen only in Spain. They said that about New York and Israel. Slowly but surely, terrorism spreads from country to country like a cancer. The immediate conclusion is that we have to seriously join forces to fight terrorism and those who condone it."

Ahava, al qaeda is at war with anyone who does not bow to their will. If anyone stands against them they will be attacked viciously. Europe has lacked the courage and the will to stand against islamic terrorism but their "wiggle room" is shrinking and they can't avoid it any longer.

I think it should be pretended to be friends!

I expect major attacks in the US as the election draws closer. No country is safe from Islamic fundamentalists and we can expect to see more incidents of this nature with the passing of time.

I think the answer is mass internment followed by deportation of any individual that has the slightest ties to Islamic fundamentalism.
