    BBC interview with Hamas-Khalid Meshaal

I just saw an interesting interview on BBCs Hard Talk with Khalid Meshaal

In a rare interview on 19 April, Tim Sebastian flew to Beirut to talk to Khalid Meshaal, the overall leader of Hamas. This interview was recorded before the death of his colleague, Abdelaziz Rantissi.

    Hamas: Khalid Meshaal

Click that link for the video which I gather is there, as well as the full transcript.

I felt Tim Sebastian did a very good job at showing what the true goals of Hamas were.
Khalid refused to directly answer some of the more pointed questions, such as whether or not Hamas felt that Israel had the right to live in Peace.

Mentioned were Iraq and whether Hamas is involved there.
He danced around the question concerning the charter and refused to answeer it to which Tim Sebastian quite clearly proved the goals of Hamas

All in all I felt it was a very good interview on behalf of Israel and the only disappointment I had with the 12 minutes that I saw was the last question where Tim Sebastian let him off of the hook a bit.............nevertheless I felt that the prior 12 minutes were worth the watch!

Perhaps others will feel differently, I cannot say.

I saw it on TV so I am not sure of the differences with this pages video, if any.

I'm surprised Mashal didn't blow his brains out the third time he asked if Israel has no right to exist.

In the bowels of the beast, that interview was.

KM: We consider this positive step but we have the right in all Palestine

Hey, Ahava, let's give them a state!

Save your praises for Tim Sebastian until you see his last two interviews with Ehud Olmert (one in January and one after the death of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin). The video interviews are right there on the site for you to see. Then tell me what you think of him.

Oh dear, I knew it must have been too good to be true! :

I was shocked having seen it on BBC to begin with and was disappointed after TR seemingly was tough with KM but when he allowed him to finish on the somewhat less negative note than earlier, I hoped others would see past it.

I am stuck with only BBC, CBC or CNN.

    Silly me!
I should have known better than to expect much from the BBC!

Tim does try to use the argument that he is tough on all sides (which he is as far as I can see), hence the name of the show being hardtalk, but the types of things he says to Israelis interviewed on his show go beyond that. I just now saw an interview he had last year with Ehud Barak, and it got to the point where Barak was defending Ariel Sharon from him even though they are in opposing political parties.

The amount of restraint that these Israeli officials show when talking to such an arrogant and condescending person is beyond belief, and I certainly would give it to him if he talked like that to me.

That was also my experience when he was a colleague of mine in the 70's and 80's. He was then a correspondent In Poland. So, what was his fault now?

Famous last words, maybe? Recording for posterity? I hear that's all the latest rage... to justify his murderous philosophy before justice meets him at the end of a Hellfire missile?

He is. He absolutely is. Any complaints of bias against the BBC will find no basis in Tim Sebastien.

That depends. Is he seeking sensationalism by bashing everybody?

Is it just entertainment or bias or both?

    Tim Sebastian

Shimon Peres went to Doha and was interviewed by arab students. So far , so good.
The students made questions in a respectull way.
When it comes to Tim Sebastian.., while Peres was talking he interrupted him and claimed : Why did Israel built the wall in palestinian land ?

    He kept attacking peres.
He is an anti israeli, as BBC fellows are.
European media feeds arab radicalism when it comes to Israel.

I am a fellow interested in following the news. That is why I did watch Peres interview in Doha.

After that I use google in order to find articles , comments about Tim Sebastian.

I apollogize for being interested in the news ( Not everyone is interested by current events in the middle east. I understand. Here in portugal people just enjoy sex and soccer. Thats how life is. I have other interests such as the events in the middle east. Sorry for that).

It's not about Peres and his interview. You've dug out a thread that's been dead for three years.
