    Eurovision Song Contest 2004

The Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Istanbul this coming weekend. Israel, many times the winner in the past, is also taking part. Are you ready for the contest? Will you watch it on TV or listen to the radio?

Interest in the contest appears to be slight, judging from the number of views or replies. Maybe I should have entitled this thread: Israel is at it again!

Eurovision is the world's largest provider of international transmission services for live sports and news events.

Peacelover, Terry Wogan was also one of my favourites, when I lived in England. I still listen to him on the Internet at times.

By the way, I twice attended the UK selection more than 20 years ago. I think the whole thing was once cancelled and when I went there the second time, there were the participants and very few spectators only. I thought the lack of interest was unbelievable, but everything may have changed then.

This is a good site for watching the contestant videos: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/eurovisi....shtml?refresh

Having listened to a random few of the entries, i can say the Israeli one is pretty darn dire!

It begins in Ivrit, but has English verses, and its called Le'ha'amim - To Believe. David D'or has a great voice, but the song is wet, he goes on and on about dreaming and believing in dreams. Enough already!

Its not as bad as the Irish entry though. That is pretty sickening.

Why do they always have to be silly, contrived, love songs?

The Greeks and Turks have got it going on i tell ya! At least the Turkish entry has a performing band in the video. Its all in English as well - big strength. Very funky too.

anyways, it could be Andorra who win on the night, who knows?

He's a man who's had his anatomical plumbing rearranged.

    Take him, please!

I particularly liked his performance the year after when he returned as outgoing champion, came on stage to present the award to the new winner, promptly fell over and ran off crying.

Eurovision. You just can't beat it.

Don't let reassignment surgery and daily hormonal overdoses fool you.
