It's probably deeper french are not sore that Hindu and Chinese are much more popular than the language of love.

In France's defense: their language is beautiful.

Personally, I find their literature and especially films rather strange.
I do love some French music and Paris is wonderful.

Must over rated. It's going down, any-way. The best French director, is doing American style films, in English! (refering Luc Basson).

The French have good taste in music - American music! What has France produced? Patrick Bruel? Edith Piaf? Air is ok, but waaay overplayed. Same with Mighty Bop. The Yellow Records label is about as good as it gets from France, and the UK's Warp Records blows them away.

Yeah, this thread belongs in the Lounge, thanks Newsguy.

Patrick Bruel is a great singer, air is cool too, "La tribu de dana" is a fantastic song (by manau), I love the song "une derniere danse" (kyo), furthermore I often don't know what the singers are but just hear French music and really like it.
But sure, they're not particularly outstanding in the world when it comes to music.

    Absurd.

In astetics, Chinees cinema rules! (if to adopt an American phrase). In "intersting" films, there is the british films and even (Yes!!!!) American independent movies (like the Coen Broth.).

The best screen writers and screen players are British-American-Australians.

The rest is a pomposed nothings!!!

Still, the best frenchman seen in cinema is Peter Sellers! (half Jewish, btw).

Films are a very important part of french culture.

There is no city in the world with so many movie theaters and so many different films showing anytime than Paris.

Ironically, my preferred realisator is Satyajit Ray (yes is above Renoir, KSO). Ray is a genius, his films transform you. Absolute beauty, truth.
