Well I remember the old shoe pounder Nikita but the nature of warfare was somewhat different.

The Arabs that took out the Twin Towers and crashed into the Pentagon lived in the US. As I understand it they would have crashed into the White House but they had difficulty locating it.

So that changes things because Islamic Fundamentalists are all around us. How many are there in N. America right now, 10, 100, 1,000, 10,000?

    Who knows?

4,500 gallons of cyanide was hijacked in Mexico a few days ago. I would think a lot of damage could be done with that if it fell into their hands. Dirty nuclear bombs are relatively easy to make and the list goes on.

The way I see it wouldn’t take many of these fanatics to wipe out the US.

I don’t think this is the world of Nikita’s anymore its far more dangerous.

But I hope you’re right and I’m wrong.

The 'dudn't' President has overstepped his mark: he has given the green light for a massacre to commence conducted by the most brutal criminal this side of Caligula."

"May God bless our martyrs". (= extremist, fundemantalist, terrorist)

"May God bless our nation" ' (= patriot, hero)

You know, these quotes look a bit like eachother.

    ======================

BTW, Caligula is a totally other story. He was a maniac acting alone, he appointed his horce as consul . But during the era of the Roman Emperors, no one was allowed to criticize him as he was a god.

And eventually the US will disappear. There's no nation that has survived longer than 1000 years (Roman Empire being the exeption). So, still some 750 years to go But in the meanwhile, a lot can happen.

You are as foolish as the japanese prior to WW2. The US is the strongest nation on earth. It has been for close to 100 years now. Americans are some of the most nationalistic and creative people on the face of the earth. What scares me is one more big strike on the US and american rage will be out of the box. We will make a smouldering cinder out of all of arabia. The saudis have been a nation due to their diplomatic skills, not their military might. I think it would take the US less than a year and < 100K casualties to take all of arabia. Take the moral we should not wipe these people out away and it will take less. You are a fool to underestimate the US people. Pandoras Box is there for the opening. Read a little history and see what happens when nations / people tempt Americas wrath. New Texas has a nice ring to it.

    Clearing Things Up

The common (wrong) definition of "martyr" is one who suicide bombs themselves. This is not (and HAS not been) the definition for Martyrs in Saudi Arabia, as it applies to people in Palestine.

"Yes, those being mowed down in Palestine are MARTYRES [sic]"

Says it loud and clear. A martyr is one who has been killed by IDF forces during incursions into their towns. A martyr, for example, is the little boy who died while a gun fight broke out between Palestinian and Israeli forces. A martyr is the pregnant women shot and killed while being rushed to the hospital during labor. A martyr is the Palestinian Militant intent on enforcing sovereignity and dying for it.

It's ashame people are so intent on making generalizations about Palestinians that they assume Palestinian Martyrdom is about suicide. But, that's because of media and individual ignorance.

The Palestinians, themselves, call suicide bombers "martyrs."

Why are you trying to provide them cover?

Then I guess the hundreds of Israeli's killed by the Palestinian "martyrs" are alco martyrs.

I guess my education is lacking. I thought martyrs had their lives taken from them, not those who committed suicide for the cause.

There you go! Yes, they can be considered "martyrs" as well based on definition of the Saudi Arabian term for martyr.

The article this thread is based on makes that clear. However, I noticed repliers were inclined to assume it related to "sucide/homicide bombers".

That's the "palestinians themselves". The distinction deserves further comment. When the Saudi Arabians ran telethons to raise money for "martyrs", it was wrongly assumed they were raising money for "suicide bombers" because the mainstream definition of "martyr" was "one who strapped bombs to themselves and killed Israeli's."

Saudi Arabia used the term "martyr" for the people killed during Israeli operations in Palestinian territories. They raised money because families were left without loved ones to maintain support, sort of like an Insurance Policy if your loved one dies (whose gonna take care of the excess bills). Palestinians don't deserve to be cared for?

It was anti-arab propaganda that ran amuck declaring Saudi Arabians supported Suicide Bombers, gave them money to strap bombs to themselves to kill Israeli's. There is no way for Saudi Arabia to determine what Palestinians do with the money given to them, just as there is no way of America to determine what Israel does with the AID given to them. However, there is a need to help people who fall victims to this "war".

Frankly, the lies have to stop. This whole situation is creating opportunities for racists, bigotry and hate. Not only is anti-arab on the rise, so is anti-semitism.
