True. In 100 years the Muslims will ask that the flag be changed.Originally Posted by AJL

Hilarious. They are excellent at waving white flags at the Germans. I watched the French TV news celebrating the 60th anniversary of their liberation from Germany. They made it seem that the French soldiers liberated France and completely failed to mention it was thanks to the USA and Britain.Originally Posted by patrickafir

It might've had something to do with the staple of WWII French military, the famed Renault FT-17 tank (see pic here: http://www.wwiivehicles.com/images/france/ft_17_01.jpg). It had 1 forward gear and 4 reverse... My favorite French invention after the guillotine!

This tank was a WWI tank and US bought it, probably the best tank at is time, during WWII it was only used as machine-gun truck following infantry, for the Panzer-bashing there was the Renault B1-bis (called the "monster" by germans) and Somua S-35 (medium and fast tank), but as you know... not enougth and too late...
Did these also have 4 reverse gears and 1 forward?Originally Posted by TDidier

they also had a great strategic defence along the german-french border in WW2, with massive cannons, connected by underground railways...Originally Posted by TDidier
i had not seen such ingenious military strategy since the trogans brought the greek horse through the wall of troy... in fact im sure some french ancestors where generals in the trojan army that day, they must have been saying, "ahh this horse prooves our might in battle, bring it in and we celebrate with wine and cheese tonight boys"
For B1-bis... maybe (slow tank, with limited range), Panzer (even the heaviest) were not able to shot B1, they just had to wait he burn all his oil...Originally Posted by AJL
