    Dear Hisardut.....

That magnificence ligne had coast a fortune in that time ,and the German army overcross the MAGINOT LIGNE...And choose the Belgium (who was a neutral country) ,but the worse thing concerning that MAGINOT LIGNE and the stupidity off the engineer is all the cannons and machine gun
in their conception their had no possibility to make a 360° turn (only 180°),and the german passed by the other side and those cannons didn't shoot once...!!!!
nothing ....!!!! and all thre private and officers where immediately.....prisonners........and the little train is use for the tourist who are visiting the famous LIGNE MAGINOT ) MAGINOT is a genial inventor....!!!!

Hugs to all of you (and me...!)

French armour and the armed fources were ill equipped and ill trained. There was no way they could have lasted as long as they did if it was not for the allies that were helping them out.

So 360° would have made what difference?

    I agree
Firstly, morale among french people was zero, they had seen a large population of male conscrpts being killed or maimed during ww1
Consequently, french trade unions had their responsability into hampering war efforts
Secondly, french military thinking had made few progresses between the war Germans developped coordination between stukas, tanks, artillery, mobile infantry
At the same time,Frenchies still stuck to static defence lines
Nevertheless ,some pieces of french equipment were excellent
-somua tanks were superior to german counterparts but widely scattered instead of being concentrated, lackin radio communication systems
-dewoitine 520 fighter was at least as good as the me190 but built in too few numbers(too late and french unions sabotages...)

In fact the whole french East-army (the most powerfull) was captured without combat by german turn back (crossing Belgium) tactic, with 360° canon they would be able to fight (a bit...).

I personally would like to see Germany and France become one country.

Although they have fought wars, I believe they should unite. The people are very similar and both are very advanced.

France and Germany used to be one and I think that they should be again.

That said, I think the language should be English.

France and Germany have fought is in my view stupid wars when they are naturally so close. France and Germany could be a superpower. Also Germany should be given back the occupied lands and Prussia.

The problem with France is that it is too open and the culture is being given away to others.

I am for multiculturalism but France is being conquerored and no one bats an eye lid.

It is like a Westerm Country out populating a Muslim country ... not acceptable.

We here in Australia accept all people but we are still Christian. Everyone knows this and it should remain like this. France however has no such strength.

    I worry about France's future.

That Muslims can dictate religious ideas and the Government is forced to legislate shows the depth of the problem.

In its quest to be the friend of Arabs, France is becoming Muslim.

If that is what you want then fine.

I would not let Australia become Muslim or anything other than Christian but we are different. We have so many different people and faiths that it is difficult for anyone to get an edge.

Australia is like going to the UN or a busy international airport.

Nothing wrong with being a Muslim, but one must ask, do the people of France really want to become a Muslim state.

    Islamic France?

That would not be acceptable, as it would not be acceptable to have a Christian country slap bang in the middle of the Arab countries.

I am totally opposed to the head scarfs. This is a sign of future militants.

I remember a cartoon of a German soldier after WWI with his son in the crib and the date 1939 above.

The same is true for France.

France has sown a rich crop of Islam and that they, the French Muslims are marginalised, second class citizens, will only mean one thing - civil war.

Either France becomes multicultural like Australia and the USA or they stay as one faith. A two faith state is a state at war.

    I hope I am wrong.

France and Germany have two seperate identities and nationalities. Thats as if you wanted to unite Czech Republic and Austria.

    Do you know your history?

In any case Europe is on the path to becoming the USE and about time.

We here have three choices, Europe, Asia and the US.

My vote is to be part of the US. An extended USA if you will. We are most like the US despite our very strong European and Asian aspects.

For a large part you are right.

In fact France and Germany are both the two part of former Frank Empire (an Empire which reborned sometimes), they definitly diverted when Charles quint (Duke of Burgondy) was elected Imperator against Francois Ier (King of France), at this time France was the most powerfull part of the "Empire" and it was unthinkable for the king of France to not becam imperator... Then: long wars again...

For english language as language for Germany/France union, you are rigth for a second time, english is a 60% dutch-german/ 40% french language...

You worry about future, but french secularity is strong and a giant part of the muslem population (only 7%) respect that.

This year a deal was proposed to Algeria by France: build the same partnership between France/Algeria as we built with Germany... And at the end: the union

    Really, I hope.

heh i like france for the most part, but they should do two things, stop acting like they are so good and change their government policies which are now against there old allies and for their old enemies (who will in the end back stab france) and 2, france should stop acting like a super power... we all know that without nukes france would loose a war to monaco... and even with their nukes they probably dont turn 360 degrees

k soz, im back with the jokes , all in all just 2 probs i have with france, and its their leadership not its people in general.

I would like to see the EU become one country. The fact is that modern European political thought discards the notion of the nation state altogether. Eventually "France" and "Germany" will be brand name affinities more than they will be countries.
