That makes me so angry I want to kick a hole in the wall. Here's my proposal. Anyone injured in Iraq gets to not pay state or federal taxes for life.
But than you will hurt the poor poor Billioners they should profit from the goverment not to pay it's expenses.Originally Posted by Mediocrates

They believed that peace had broken out so they only had the remotest of chances of actually being needed for combat. Funny thing about the Military is sometimes you have to fight and kill enemies of the US. In the process your life and health can be in grave danger, a mind numbing prospect for any sane person.Originally Posted by Mediocrates
I have nothing but respect for those who risk their lives either voluntary or involuntary (in this case) to defend the cause of liberty both here and abroad. The only affirmative action I believe in would be directed at our veterans. Those who defend us need to come before us.
The simple fact of the matter is that we will most likely be in a real war with Iran if Bush gets a second term. We are going to need everybody plus some to win this war at the 100 to one causality rate (Enemy/US) we have come to expect of our modern military. This rate is important to maintain for two primary reasons. The first is that brings the war to a successful conclusion sooner due to the dwindling numbers and moral of the enemy. The second is that the fickle nature of the west concerning war requires speed and minimal causalities.
We cannot stabilize Iraq until the evil in Syria and Iran are dealt with.
November 9, 2004 maybe more pivotal for the next four years than September 11, 2001 was for the last three.
Are you trying to say it would've been different under Kerry? Phhhlease...
Kerry is no different than Bush, but anti-Israel. Do we need any more of this: http://www.womeningreen.org/gif/olegoct00c.jpg ?

I can't speak for the reliablity of "Rocky Mountain News", however none of my friends, coworkers, or relatives have had any such ultimatums.
It is not clear if this was an ultimatum, or if the restructuring program has created such a situation.
• Soldiers who sign the letter are bound to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team until Dec. 31, 2007.
• Soldiers who do not sign the letter might be transferred out of the brigade and possibly to Iraq.
The army is trying to restructure, and as part of the process they will have to reassign those who don't sign up for extended tours. IF this is not being done intentionally to force them to re-enlist, but its part of the process of restructuring, and its allowed by the original contract, I do not think there is anything wrong with it.
I also have very little sympathy for those who signed up to get the benefits, and then start screaming when they actually have to fight (assuming everything else is fair).
