A French correction - we do condemn Quassam firing
Ynet - Oct 4th - French foreign affairs office condemned today firing of Quassam rockets on Israeli town of Sderot, which led to the death of two children. In the first official response, issued last week, France condemned Israeli military action in Gaza, but "forgot" to mention the killing of the children in Sderot.
This is the new "revised" official statement:
"We condemn the rocket attack which led to the death of two children. Israel has the right to defend itself, but it should respect int'l law.
We are very worried from the escalation of violence in GS during the last two days, which led to the killing of many civilians. Violence is not the answer, everything should be done to stop the cycle of violence."
original statement
Last Thursday, French foreign affairs office issued a statement that condemns "Israeli incursion into Gaza". The message made no reference to the Quassam firing and killing of children that caused the military operation. Israeli officials responded with anger: "It is not surprising to see that the death of Israeli children bares no interest to the French. France never pretended to carry a balanced approach to the conflict."
UN to convene
This evening, UN security council will convene to discuss Arab demand for strong condemnation to "Israeli acts of massacre in GS". Official Israeli sources told Ynet that "The world will say its say, but Israel will not stop the operation. The world is tired of Palestinian excuses. They invoke terror from within civilian population and then come with complaints. They brought this on themselves."
