Need an "ahem" touchy question answered Please?

This truly is not a joke...........I'm in the middle of some research and truly need a proper answer to this question if someone could please do so for me?

Due to the nature of it, it might be more comfortable for this person to PM me the answer if necessary.

I need to know IF there is any truth, to begin with, if Chassids still do or ever really did, use the sheet with the hole for ....ahem.........certain situations?

If so, and it isn't just a false rumor, I need to know WHERE they would purchase such items, or would they make them at home themselves?

And I need to know more concerning the actual sheets full usage if possible?

As well as if there is a particular size that is most commonly used, such as twin, double, queen etc?

I am expecting some odd reactions to this question but am really in need of serious answer please.
This is required for a particular reason by some jewish friends of mine as well as myself, who dont particularly wish to go ask a rabbi such questions!

    Thx

I heard that it's a rumor that started with some comedian making a joke about it.

However, since Judaism is not a religion with a central authority, surely they could've been some Jew somewhere, who'd think that. But there is certainly nothing of the sort in the scripture.

No it is not true, it was never true. There is no factual basis for that ever having been used or required in any way. I am closely associated with the Chabad so I'm familiar with this stuff. What is true is the ritual of mikvah. This is quite complex and probably beyond the scope of your question.

Whats Chabad's view or better still the Rebbe's view on abortion and gay marriage?

I did ask a Rabbi (Conservative) about it and he said that it was true, but I've never heard of anyone actually doing this in practice. Of course, those most likely to do this, would be least likely to talk about it. Still, it sounds counter to all halakic rules I've EVER heard because sex is supposed to be a mitzvah and not to be shameful in any way.

I think you could ask at www.koshersex.com but here is what I came up with from their site:

Q: In an earlier post you said that very orthodox use a sheet and you assume that not all of them do so.
My question is where do you get this from, I am almost 35 and had the strictest orthodox upbringing, and till today I never heard something like this from any of the rabbi.
    Is it written anywhere?

    A: No it is not.
Actually we said it is not written anywhere and only some very selected ultra-orthodox followers follow this custom more because of their interpretation and their willingnes to limit their options rather than out of any given or wildly approved regulation.

You might try www.askarabbi.com too, but I think this is only a question for some very, very Chassidic folks in Williamsberg VA area.

Why do you need the Reb's view? Here's what the Almightie commands:

    Vayikra 18:
    22. You shall not lie down with a male, as with a woman: this is an abomination.

    23. And with no animal shall you cohabit, to become defiled by it. And a woman shall not stand in front of an animal to cohabit with it; this is depravity.

    24. You shall not defile yourselves by any of these things, for the nations, whom I am sending away from before you, have defiled themselves with all these things.

    25. And the land became defiled, and I visited its sin upon it, and the land vomited out its inhabitants.

    26. But as for you, you shall observe My statutes and My ordinances, and you shall not do like any of these abominations neither the native, nor the stranger who sojourns among you.

    27. For the people of the land who preceded you, did all of these abominations, and the land became defiled.

    28. And let the land not vomit you out for having defiled it, as it vomited out the nation that preceded you.

    29. For anyone who commits any of these abominations, the persons doing so shall be cut off from the midst of their people.

    30. And you shall observe My charge, not to commit any of the abominable practices that were done before you, and you shall not become defiled by them. I am the Lord your God.

Gays and those who hump animals have to be excomunicated and exiled.

The other option is given in Vayikra 20:13:

And a man who lies with a male as one would with a woman both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon themselves.

    Regarding abortion:

"(22) When men fight and they hit a pregnant woman so that her child goes out and there not be a tragedy (Hebrew: ason) [i.e. the baby was born but is fine]; he shall surely be punished, according to what the husband of the woman place upon him, the payment to be based on reckoning [or: and he shall pay as the judges determine. or: he shall pay for the crime.] (23) But if there be a tragedy (Hebrew: ason) [i.e. the baby dies or is maimed!] you shall give life for life, (24) eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, (25) burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise." (Ex 21:22-25)

Thank you for all of the replys given.
I really didnt want to ask that question but felt this was the most resourseful place to do so.

So it is just a rumour?

Youd be suprised at how many reform or conservative Jews do believe these sheets ARE being used so it is not just I, a gentile who wondered, but we needed a definite answer so I thank you.

That I am familiar with, it was only the "sheet" issue we needed a clear answer too.

I know what the Almighty commands and I certainly know the Rebbe's position.

I just want to hear it from Mediocrates.

Chabad or not, the standard Jewish view on abortion is that a woman's body is a Woman's body and it is her decision to make. From the Talmud we extract that life begins at birth for the purposes of this argument. While abortion is permissible it is not promoted.

Gay, marriage or not, from a halachic perspective is an abomination.

    Unless the couple does

Andak, I'm officially calling you out. You MUST be Jewish! You're humor is a dead give away. Either that or you converted to Judaism (you get some small bit of humor when you emerge from the mikvah as a blessing) or you were Jewish and you converted to Islam, for some unknown reason, but probably having to do with a girl! C'mon, tell me what it is?

I lived in NYC for a number of years. Maybe some of that rubbed off. And there was a Jewish girl once, but I didn't marry her. But don't get the idea that Muslims have no sense of humor. In fact, there are even a couple of stand-up comics plying their trade now. However, I doubt we'll be competing with the Catskills anytime soon.
