Welcome to KettleWhistle as New Moderator

    To all,

It is a pleasure to welcome KettleWhistle as a new Moderator of the forum.

He is a staunch advocate for Israel and the other Californian (besides me) who voted Republican.

He also holds the record of being in the forum the least amount of time before being drafted to be a Moderator.

    Good luck, KettleWhistle.

    Welcome on board.

    - NewsGuy

    I add my welcome too.

Actually, I know of someone else who is Californian and voted Republican. Parenthetically, her son is a Chabadnic.

    well said ...

...as for Canajew I know precisely what to expect in that domain... but what about you ? As far as I know and from my experience, you respect the forum rules, so you are qualified ...

but is it possible you make some kind of statement on what principles you intend to follow in using the privileges given to you?

Funny, but I live in Michigan, visited Illinois just before the election, and then spent a week the day after the election in California for a business trip (all Blue States mind you), so imagine to your surprise that I had great debates with Dems and Repubs in all three states. More than half of my IT department voted for W (in San Diego). The other half wasn't nearly as bittewr as I would have expected.

Many if not most Chabad are Republicans in this climate. For three reasons:

    1. The Republican ethos of blurring the wall between church and state is appealing.
    2. The whole values thing fits in with their personal views.
    3. They perceive Bush and all his coattails to be more Zionist.

Well, 45% of Californians voted Republican. As in the case in many states, it is really not that big of a margin. And we can always agree to disagree.

I'm not really thinking about you there Mediocrates, I do not think you are able to express clearly what you stand for as a moderator.... and consistently respecting it would probably be even more of a challenge.
