Clinton: "Iran is the only truly progressive country"

A curious Amir Taheri's article- on Arab News, of all places.

    http://www.arabnews.com/?page=7&sect...d=5&m=3&y=2005

    Exerpt:

Where is the country that Bill Clinton, a former president of the United States, feels ideologically most at home?

Before you answer, here is the condition that such a country must fulfill: It must hold several consecutive elections that produce 70 percent majorities for “liberals and progressives.”

Well, if you thought of one of the Scandinavian countries or, perhaps, New Zealand or Canada, you are wrong.

Believe it or not, the country Bill Clinton so admires is the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Here is what Clinton said at a meeting on the margins of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, just a few weeks ago: “Iran today is, in a sense, the only country where progressive ideas enjoy a vast constituency. It is there that the ideas that I subscribe to are defended by a majority.”

And here is what Clinton had to say in a recent television interview with Charlie Rose:

“Iran is the only country in the world that has now had six elections since the first election of President Khatami (in 1997). (It is) the only one with elections, including the United States, including Israel, including you name it, where the liberals, or the progressives, have won two-thirds to 70 percent of the vote in six elections: Two for president; two for the Parliament, the Majlis; two for the mayoralties. In every single election, the guys I identify with got two-thirds to 70 percent of the vote. There is no other country in the world I can say that about, certainly not my own.”

And this guy was a US president for two terms? I am speechless.

If he means "progressive" as in advancing their nuclear weapons, and being successful in inciting hate towards the west and Jews in every way possible, be it through media or whatever, then yes, he's right. Iran is soooooooooo good at sponsoring terrorism. Absolutely magnificant.

Saying anything else about Iran, just proves you're on crack or something. "I didn't inhale". Suuuuuure Clinton, you didn't.

Iran: Land of “liberals and progressives”......LOL!

Has Billy-boy Klintoon been smoking another one of those "Monica cigars"?

    Here's your “liberals and progressives”:

"Iran Guards tell leader forces unable to control Tehran uprising lasting more than 6 hours."

[..Tehran, Feb. 24 – In a recent secret report to the Iranian regime's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps pointed out that were a demonstration or rebellion to last more than six hours in Tehran, the security apparatus would no longer be able to control the situation.

"Society is in an unstable state. Were certain sensitive locations in Tehran to 'explode' under these circumstances, and the capital sink into chaos, if uprisings continue unabated and grow larger for more than six hours in Tehran, the situation would become uncontrollable", the report said...]

    http://www.iranfocus.com/modules/new...p?storyid=1554

and this land of “liberals and progressives” has its the Revolutionary Guards Corp admitting that should rioting in Teheran last longer than six hours, they won't be able to control the situation.

For a country of “liberals and progressives” who has a population that's
68 percent is under the age of 35 - little wonder that 2005 might just be the year when the regime in Teheran implodes.

Arguably, it probably wouldn't need much push to collapse, and the revolution currently sweeping the region might just provide that extra spark for the Iranian conflagration.

    Has Bubba come undone??

Clinton never fails to blow my mind (no pun intended), he and those of his so called liberal progressives, or whatever, are inane and insane. Perhaps he’s suffering from withdrawal from Monica and not having his fill of Possum-pie. I can see Charlie Rose stammering and shaking his head in agreement, like Howdy Doody.

FWIW Bush believes not only that the PLO & Hamas are worthy of democracy but that they are the ones who will engineer it. Boggles the mind, really.

I can't disagree, Bush et al have their heads buried deep: it doesn't say much for any of them.

Clinton could say he thinks Kim Jung il's Korea is a bastion for democracy and that still would be less mortifyingly stupid than what Bush Says/Believes/Does. So quit complaining.

And I couldn't agree more. I sincerely believe that Israel should help them by walling them off so as to prevent anyone from outside interfering with their engineering.

    It's not a measuring contest.

But the reality is that Clinton is no friend of Israel or the Jewish community. Like it or hate it, that's a fact. He has done more damage to us than any other world leader in past 20 years.

Right. I see. When someone from your "camp" says something astoundingly stupid, its not a problem. Thanks for clearing that up.

Now that's openminded. Unlike you, I believe that both parties are filled with idiots and I'm glad to call them both up. But I guess that is a benefit of not being a member of either party.

You are very predictable. Any time I say something partisan it's always the same response from you: "You're a loyal Democrat and thus can be expected to say idiotic things and I'm here on my ivory tower and even though I defend the-worst-president-ever and say cookie-cutter Republican propaganda I'm ABOVE all that and therefore immune to this same type of critisism.". Haven't you said it enough already?

No, I am not a Loyal-at-all-costs Democrat just like you are NOT some sort of unpartisan guy who's just fair in his assesment of something regardless of political party. You are a Republican.

Right. I see. When someone from your "camp" says something astoundingly stupid, its not a problem.
Making things up now? I didn't say it wasn't a problem. I was just remarking on how ridiculous the situtation is: Clinton can say stupid things like this and it's like he's still an Albert Einstein, because there's always Bush to compare him with.

In short, you guys are trying to mask the stupidity of your own support for the Dumbest-President-Ever by critising someone who isn't even president anymore.

Sorry, I can't infer that from lavish amounts of Republican Propaganda emanating from you or the heaps and heaps of cliche, already-shot-down arguments used also by 14 year olds in their Political science classes during the elections.

Oh wait, I have heard Republicans are quit the sexually introverted
