I agree, the old part is terrible. Last August - when I first saw Haifa from the train window I was awe struck...its so beautiful from a distance - one of the best views in Israel. But when you go into the actual city, its really nothing special - the mountains, the sea and the whole sereny is just beautiful but the actual city is nothing much. The old city is run down.

Unfortunalty that Bahai building (no matter how beautiful it is) should come down...there's simply no place for this sort of thang in Eretz Yisroael...especially when its on the same mountian where the prophet's Elijah's cave is and from where Elijah challanged the idol worshipping priests of Baal who had their temples there - how ironic that history should repeat itself...extremley disrespectful.

Its hard to say, IMHO. I guess that not all "old" Haifa is so nice like "Moshava germanit"

Regarding the panoramic views: I have a few my favorite ones in addition to the Haifa's view shown above:

Wow Peter, these photos are just so...wow. Some of the best images of Israel I've ever seen. Thank you so very much. I am going to use them to give my foreign friends a "virtual tour" around Israel and make them want to come here and visit me

Did you think of publishing a book?

i saw a documentary about a group of palestinian arabs going for a tour of israel. it's amazing how the tour guide, who is arab, was saying all the time as they were driving by the scenery this is our homeland, this is what we left behind. LOL! yes, they're that self obsessed, thinking that everything was once their land. of course, most of the people on the tour couldn't even trace any of the places they visited to their ancestries. they just want it because it looks nice and because they were brainwashed by people like arafat that everything belongs them. while they were driving around tel aviv, one tourist said "look at what the jews created, they started out with a state of only few kilometers of desert land and now look what they have." with a beautiful country like israel it's no wonder the arabs want it all.
Why are you surprised? People have always wanted what the Jews believed in or had and they will never leave the Jews alone in peace.

Stunning photographs. I recommend signing up on www.trekearth.com, its a website for photographers who want to publish their photos on the internet, and have them critiqued, rated and so on. The website is categorized into regions and countries.

Great website and thanks for sharing!

You people aint seen nothing yet and should check out the mystical city of Safed: http://www.safed.co.il/ - the best senery in Israel.

Hebron with the cave of the patriachs is also extremley beautiful
+ spiritual - along with its senery and mountains.

Peter you are a really great photographer and I would really like to see you take some snap shots of Safed and/or Hebron and then post it here.

    Dear friends,

    Thank you very much.

I'm very appreciated for your warm greetings and comments.

Toga, I'm not sure that I'm ready to publish a book, I rate my photos not so high .

Semsem, SteveK: I'd like to make pictures from the interesting places in Israel, but... I'm preferring to shoot not famous places, I try to make interesting pictures. Unfortunately this doesn't have 100% overlap.

I visited Mount Gilboa today. A lot of people and some flowers. I'm preferring to shoot flowers, sorry .

    Peter,

Anyways, I'm getting sold on Israel from your pictures. I think I'll stay.
