My first impression of Safed was going to one of the synangogues right outside the old city (in the new part). The Synangogue was situated right on a mountain - with an awesome paranamic look over the other mountains + hills, the old city of Safed and Meron (where the tomb of the Rashbi is). Watching the sunset, or the clouds over that area is simply amazing - whether religious, secular, Jew or non-Jew one can easily appreciate the Majesty and Holiness of this place.
