Has anyone used Six Apart Typepad Blogs? At $50/year the price sounds ok. Can anyone recommend any other Blog hosting facility. They don't have to be free but if you know of a free one that runs, feel free. Thanks.

blogger dot com?![]()
does that mean you've used them? a few blogs I;ve seen there had critical performance problems. have you experienced something different?
i'm not recommending any hosting service, in fact if anyone of your friends have a host then use theirs. hosts just suck, the money and the limitations. the best way to do it is to make your own. make a template up on microsoft frontpage and go from there...
Having said that, I'm not going to subscribe a fixed IP host on my own network and then worry about bit metering. First off I don't have any free machines laying around and I don't want to pay Time Warner for a fixed IP and then the cost of registering an FQDN. I mean if people want to subsidize me, that would be great. . .
I've never experienced a problem with blogger.com performance but you could be experienced a localized network issue. Also blogger.com allows you to host the blog yourself, so that could be a third party hosting causing the problems.
You could always search for a good host and get a blogging script and manage it all yourself. There's also livejournal.com. Or movabletype![]()
I was looking at typepad which is what you're talking about (six apart) for $50/yr the price is right
