[.. The Israeli government (will) make atonement for peace and security ..]
as soon as
the dozen or so Arab countries who attempted to destroy Israel in the past 5 wars also, [.. make atonement for peace and security ..]
sounds fair to me
btw,
any comparison of Jews with Nazis is hilarious since Palestinian Arabs (and Arabas in general) were Nazi allies during World War II and still praise the Nazis in their own Arab media.

Generally speaking, I agree with what you've said: Israel has caused injustice and inflicted unecessary pain on the Palestinians. I do not know about American media, however, the reports we get from Europe show that the media there is biased towards the Palestinians, portraiting them as perpetual victims, while downplaying their terror attacks.
However, I strongly object to references and comparisons you make to the Jewish Holocaust in WWII. There is no event in modern human history that can be compared to that historical tragedy. Not in scale, not in the systematic machine-like nature of the killing and not in the ideology behind the action. A Palestinian city that is put under blockade cannot be compared to a ghetto simply becuse an entire city is not a ghetto.
"Blaming the Palestinian people for the problem we face in this crisis today would be similar to blaming the Jewish people for the Holocaust" Maybe it is wrong to blame the Pals for "this crisis". However, it is also misleading, if not manipulative, to compare the actions of the oppressed people in the two occasions.
David, do you know the total number of ethnic Germans ethnically cleansed from Czehoslovakia, Poland, USSR, East Prussia, Yugoslavia, Austria, France, Denmark, Hungary, Romania, and even within Germany itself within the years 1945-1948?
Mil - stands for the countless MILlions of reasons not to work.

The Israeli government saying t-hey will do one thing...the Israelis have imprisoned...The Israeli government must make atonement for peace and security for the people of Israel and the world... If the people and government of Israel want to raise the credibility and stature of the State of Israel among the international community of nations they will have to make major changes to their ways
"The Israeli government must...the Israeli governemt should..." by the sounds of it the Palestinian authority has no obligations or responsbilities at all...you've basically absolved them of their obligations and allowed them to wash their hands of all responsbility.
Its almost hilerious that you make so many hypocritical demands of Israel to "make peace", demanding that it must "change its ways" whilst totally ignoring and making it seem ok for the PLO Arabs to continue on with their daily incitment to kill Jews via TV, radio and schools - to continue planning to murdre innocent Jews - young and old in a most brutual, calculated and cold blooded manner. You make so many demands of Israel, yet forget that they fulfilled literally everything that was demanded of them under Oslo and the road map...yet the Arabs have broken everyone of their obligations and promises and continue to brutually and savagley murder whislt indoctrinating and educating their future generations to hate and voilence.
But what i object the most is your offensive and disgraceful comparison to the PLO terrirotires to the Jewish ghettos. I suppose the Jews recieved billions of US $$$ in international aid every year and ure average Jewish family in the ghettos lived in four storey villas, recieved free electricity, gas, running clean water (payed for by their "oppressors"), had a free press which was free to incite voilence and murder against the population outside the ghetto on a daily basis, and the restrictions placed on Jews were a result of them murdering innocent european women and children. they were also free to hold mass hate parades like these http://www.bambili.com/b_gallery/vie...p?pic_id=16101

Israel is ruling over a foreign people for 38 years. These people have no citizenship and no civil rights. Do you believe this is justice?Originally Posted by Leon

well considering that 95% them of have been living under PLO rule for the past 10 years and how the "palestinian street" is ruled by the gun - perhaps you are right about them havig no "civil rights". Maybe Israel should give the Palestinian authority more money in addition to the US $1 billion they already give them every year on top of the hundreds of millions in US $$$ they get in aid money from the international europe. This will assist them in improving the quality of incitement and hatred which is broadcast daily on their TV and radio or freely hold mass hate parades where they walk around dressed up like the KKK and scream for more Jewish blood...speaking of civil liberaties under a "brutual occupier."These people have no citizenship and no civil rights. Yup Israel is simply not doing enough, apart from sadistically oppressing them just for the pleasure of it.
During World War II over 40 million people were killed with 6 to 8 million of being Jewish people. World War II was one of the darkest and worst times in the modern history of the world. The great lost of life by so many people affected the survivors for generations to come. The Jewish people are building Holocaust Museums around the world and having a Remembrance Day on April 30th telling their side of the story. The Holocaust is part of Israel’s foundation with the Jewish people having their perspective and many other people having a much different perspective. The Palestinian and Arab perspective is very different than the Israelis.
After World War II many of the Jewish people in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union were refugees people with no homes. Many of the Jewish refugees wanted to move to Western Europe, the United States and the Holy Land their biblical homeland. The people and governments of these nations did not want the millions of the Jewish refugees in their country. The founding of the United Nations came the creation of the modern Jewish State of Israel as a way help solve the Jewish refugee problems as well as compensation to the Jewish people for some of their great losses.
The Arab nations protested and fought the European Zionist movement from the very beginning in the creation of the Jewish State of Israel in the Holy Land. This creating a higher level of tension between the Arab and Jewish people in the region leading to an endless cycle of conflict with the Israeli taking control of more land from the Palestinian and Arab people. During the Oslo Accords peace negotiations the Israelis doubled the number of Israeli settlers living in the West Bank. The Palestinian society was raped for the compensation paid to the Jewish people.
Why is it you sit in judgment of Jews? Why is it no one sits in judgment of Arabs? Why is that? I'd really like to understand why no one sits in judgment of the Palestinians? Please explain the moral and ethical underpinnings of that.Originally Posted by sharonbn

There are so many false claims in your post that I simply have no time to fisk it right now, it would literally mean word-by-word debunking. But hey, just one point that would alone make your whole statement crumble:Originally Posted by David2004

In the meanwhile, stop preaching and get a history book.Blaming the Palestinian people for the problem we face in this crisis today would be similar to blaming the Jewish people for the Holocaust.
The present situation is less the fault of the Palestinian Arabs specifically and more of the Arab nations out there who incited and funded the Palestinian violence- but Israel certainly isn't the one to blame.
Another lie. Look up the Weizmann-Feisal agreement of 1919. The Arabs agreed to the creation of the Jewish state in Palestine very soon after it was proposed, and it was the rise of Islamic extremism that changed matters. And the "Palestinian society" wasn't even there at the time, the Palestinian Arabs did not yet see themselves as a group different from other Arabs. Their separate identity is an outcome of their encounter with Zionism- so even there they owe us :POriginally Posted by David2004
We all know that the occupation was the result of the 67 war. Yes, Israel did not start that war (well, technically it did start it, but the closing of the Tiran Straits constitutes a declaration of war according to int'l law)Originally Posted by Leon
But that was 38 years ago. In the first years, the Israeli gov't regarded the occupied territories as a card to play when peace negotiations will commence. Consequently, the gov't refused to allow Jewish settlements. This policy changed after Yom Kipur war and more fervently after the 77 elections. The gov't started supporting settlements, while employing all sorts of legal maneuvers to circumvent the int'l law, which prohibits land grab for the sake of civil settlement. This is textbook colonialism: Military occupation followed by land grab for the purpose of settlement.
Quite frankly, There was no reason for Israel to hold on to the occupied territories and certainly no reason to establish colonies there. No moral, no legal and no practical reason. as long as you ask for the reason: then yes, Israel retained control over the territories and established colonies there for the sake of colonialism. We just didn't want to give up our new possession, regardless if we rightfully own it or not. regardless if someone is already residing there or not.
This is only true for GS. in WB the number is less then 50% and of course during the second intifadah Israel re-conquered most of the Pal cities.Originally Posted by Leon

To say that “no one sits in judgment of Arabs†is simply a false accusation.
I do not feel I have to repeat these statements every time I choose to criticize Israeli policy just for the sake of “balanceâ€. If its relevant, that I say it. If its not, I leave it.
Let me ask you why is it impossible to state any kind of criticism on Israeli policy without being accused of bias and prejudice?
