Compensate Israel

The debate about whether to leave the houses and facilities intact in the gaza strip after the pullout dances between razing them - and not giving hamas and the other animals anything to gloat over, or leaving them so the arabs can make use of them.

I would pose that israel should offer to europe as a concession that the house/facilities can remain, but europe needs to buy them from israel for their arab friends. Israel should be compensated for the cost of the hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of roads and infrastructure they are leaving behind, in addition to the housing, hospitals, etc.

Sharon should add this to his demands before the EU prior to July, otherwise, israel will flatten them. My guess is that the europeans will balk, exposing them as hypocrites where they can fund arab terror, but not a viable arab enttity - or jews for that matter.

There was a strawman floated by the World Bank about 4 weeks ago to that effect. I think it has little traction. James Wolfenson the outgoing WB president is being a given a special envoy posting through the end of 2005 as Special Envoy for Gaza Disengagement, so maybe there is something to it.

Seemingly though PLO staffers don't want the houses to remain. They complained they were and I quote "Too small for Palestinian families" and the competition for them would result in corruption, if you can believe that. But I give them kudos for saying it out loud. So the PLO in a twist of karmic irony wants the houses knocked down so they can build new high density housing more appropriate to their needs. Of course the factories and farms would remain but I think the Israelis are resisting the idea of leaving greenhouses and such intact.

They should not only napalm all these houses, but also soak all the farmland in gasoline and let it burn. That way it won't be arable once the terrorist squatters get there.
