Israelis, Palestinians Said Agree to Deal

    From news article:

October 30,2005 | GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip -- Israel and the Palestinians have agreed to halt nearly a week of fighting after militant groups pledged to halt rocket fire on southern Israeli towns, Palestinian officials said Sunday.

The deal, which Israeli officials refused to confirm, would bring an end to the second serious round of violence since Israel completed its withdrawal from the Gaza Strip last month. While many had expected the withdrawal to restart peace efforts, the two sides have so far failed to capitalize on the opportunity.

When was the last time the Palestinian Arab authority or terrorist organizations stuck to the agreeement with Israel?

Please let us know if the serial killers running free can be transformed into the decent humans.

Was the pumping of artillery a catalyst for the promise of good conduct?

One sure shot way of avoiding attacks is by continously engaging each other with talk. That way if someone issue is raised, the other side knows it can come and talk about it.

The "disengagement" has brought Israelis anything but those things promised by the Sharon government and Washington:

These terrorist declarations of "ceasefire" are nothing more than an attempt to stave off permanent damage by the IDF in order to regroup. Yes, Israel's artillery fire led to this "truce," but the fact Israel played along will only mean the process will have be repeated, again and again.

Israel agreed to allow the EU to manage the Gaza - Egypt border for what it's worth. I suppose when they fall down on the job, we can all point to them and ask for an accounting but we all know for the most part what their answer will be. I'd also like the EU to manage the Gaza coast as well and take that job out of the political arena. Let the Israeli navy worry about things they can do something about. In fact bogging down the EU in their own private Vietnam might not be a bad thing.

As long as they provide free access to the press for their operations....
