From news article:
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The Bush administration has acknowledged that Saudi Arabia has renewed funding to Palestinian insurgency groups.
Officials said the Treasury Department has determined that after a lull of more than a year Riyad has relayed millions of dollars to Palestinian insurgency groups. They said most of the money was said to have been sent to Hamas.
"The United States shares Saudi Arabia's concern for meeting the humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people," Deputy Assistant Secretary Daniel Glaser said. "But it is vitally important for Saudi Arabia to act resolutely against all terrorist organizations and to cut off support for groups like Hamas."
On Tuesday, Glaser told the Senate Judiciary Committee that in August 2005 Saudi Arabia held a telethon in support of the Palestinian war against Israel. He said the government established a bank account, termed Joint Account 98, for Saudi contributions to Palestinian insurgency groups. The telethon was sponsored by the Saudi Committee for the Support of the Al Aqsa Intifada.

From news article:
TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Egypt has launched a plan to rearm the Palestinian Authority.
Israeli security sources said Egypt has begun delivery of light weapons ammunition and would follow this with other equipment required by PA security forces. The sources said Egypt also intends to deliver AK-47 assault rifles, pistols, and rocket-propelled grenades and launchers.
"We have completed a study and we found that indeed the PA needs weapons," Haim Ramon, an Israeli Cabinet minister, said.
On Nov. 6, Egypt completed its first formal delivery of AK-47 ammunition to the PA. The delivery, which a Palestinian source said also included light weapons, took place from Egypt's Sinai Peninsula via the Rafah border crossing and into the Gaza Strip.
But to get back to the Saudis.......

From news article:
Yesterday, the new Saudi Ambassador to the United States condemned terrorism and suggested the existence of Israel as a reason why the United States is the target of terrorists.
Also, yesterday the State Department did not show up at a Senate hearing about the Saudi role (if any) in the spread of Islamic terrorism. State said they were sending someone but the representative did not materialize. Maybe, State did not want to cross swords with Nina Shea, of the Center for Religious Freedom, who made the case that the Saudis are helping spread Islamic fundamentalism in the United States. Or, maybe it had something to do with the fact that Secretary of State Rice is on her way to Saudi Arabia. Perhaps, she wanted to keep the focus on the right of Saudi women to drive cars (remember Karen Hughes' last trip?).
If the United States keeps treating the Saudis as friends we will never win the war against terrorism.
