    Iran Announces Conference on Holocaust

By NASSER KARIMI, Associated Press Writer
    2 hours, 14 minutes ago

Iran, whose president has denied the Holocaust, said Sunday it would hold a conference to examine the scientific evidence concerning Nazi Germany's extermination of 6 million Jews.

Hard-line Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has recently provoked global condemnation for saying the Holocaust is a "myth" and calling for Israel to be wiped from the face of the earth. Iran further alarmed Western countries last week by restarting its research at a nuclear facility after a two-year freeze.

"It is a strange world. It is possible to discuss everything except the Holocaust," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told reporters. "The Foreign Ministry plans to hold a conference on the scientific aspect of the issue to discuss and review its repercussions."

Asefi did not say where or when the conference would be held or who would attend.

Earlier this month, the Association of Muslim Journalists, a hard-line group, proposed holding a similar conference.

But Asefi said he was not aware of the association's wishes. He said the conference he announced was planned and supported by the ministry.

On Saturday, Ahmadinejad urged the West to be open-minded enough to allow a free international debate on the real aspects of the Holocaust.

Rep. Tom Lantos (news, bio, voting record), D-Calif., has said he understood Iran was considering a conference to call into question the evidence that the Nazis conducted a mass murder of European Jews during World War Two.

He can come here and investigate. The evidence is not that hard to find.

    A joke...

And what evidence of the Holocaust will they find in Iran?

Arabs can deny the Holocaust as much as they want. It's not going to change the accepted idea around the rest of the world.

The first thing he'd need to investigate is why the German nation itself isn't disputing "the evidence". That's the first logical step for anyone who wants to hold such a conference.

Maybe, someone should tell Ahmedinejad, that his time may be better spent in investigating why all German's are in on this "conspiracy"!

Sad;y, the irony is lost on them. 60 years later, and they want to start investigating now? I've always said they're almost a century behind in that part of the world.

Well, Ahmed and his followers prove to be dumb@$$es. The Germans took full responsibility for the Holocaust, and there is not a single doubt about it.

Who the helk is Iran to challenge the Holocaust? how can they challenge the country that was responsible for the crimes?

Iran was/is remote from the Holocaust and have no business on the issue. They better accept the truth. They need to get a life, rather than focusing on issues that have zero effect on them.

Germany had men in brown, America has men in black, Iran has stupid men.
Conspiracies are everywhere - I keep saying that all the time.
Okayokayokay, for the sake of completeness: Israel has women in green.

What good does it do for this whack job to deny the Holocaust, when he is trying to usher in another one? I suppose that if the insane imams and "intellectuals" in Iran conclude that no holocaust has occurred, then there is justification for one to be undertaken against all Jews worldwide. As Yogi Berra once stated; "...it's deja vu all over again."

Sometimes I wonder if the Holocaust deniers really believe what they say. They seem so absurd that I wonder if they are simply taking their place among the centuries-long line of Jew haters. I've read that anti-Semitism has been growing world-wide: perhaps another Shoah is just what they are hoping to bring about.
