I hadn't heard of him until I watched "Jewtastic" last month. I found him to be cool, too.![]()
It's cool to watch a Hassid getting crazy and wild. He's pretty popular now.
He performs Reggae, not Hip Hop.
They've put him into heavy rotation on secular modern rock radio in the US...which is bizarro, especially since the format doesn't play Reggae to begin with. Someone decided they could promote him big time, and they're not even using a novelty angle on him. The other weird thing is Reggaeis full of songs about Zion, and Israel basedon Rastafarian psuedo-beliefs.
He's affiliated with the Lubavitchers, so if you've watched a Chabbad telethon in the past few years, then you've seen him.
Personally, I think he's dreadfull.
Oh c'mon, give him a break. How often do you see such Jews gaining mainstream popularity in music?Personally, I think he's dreadfull.
What do you mean? Hasidim?
I don't care for the schtick or the music. I think he's emberassing...but it's probably a positive thing that he's outwardly Jewish and mainstream.
He's not mainstream. He's a clown that got noticed and got his 15 minutes of fame.
Well, most celebrities in the U.S. are clowns, so he's no different. He's just a Jewish clown. He's not mainstream. He's a clown that got noticed and got his 15 minutes of fame.![]()
