How should a jew look like?

We all know that millions jews arround the world nowdays look pretty different (from very dark skinned to extremly white, from black to blue eyes, from dark haired to blonds), but how does a jew relly looks like? more exactly, till 2000 yrs ago when there was no contact with the europeeans how did a jew look like? how did david, moses, and even jesus look like? How can we tell nowdays if a jew looks like an "original" jew with all his features?

    Ancient Jews...

I am guessing ancient Jews were somewhat dark skinned with dark hair and beards.

yeah well beards are out of the question cos everyone can have it if they stop shaving:P yeah well i agree and it's natural that the originar israeli traits were dark skinned, dark eyed and dar haired, much like other ancient semitic peoples (babylonians, assyrians, phoenicians, etc)...unlike arabs, cos arabs are mixed up with many nations, though it is said that they are semitics, i wont' contradict that as they mainly come from the mixture of the above mentioned peoples

Nowdays, as we know, especially the jews from europe who ocassionaly got mixed up with the locals, some of them have blond hair and bright skin and blue eyes...the weird thing is that one trait still is common among most of the jews: the Nose :P of which i am very proud. Isn't it weird? haven't u noticed that most jews no matter of other physical qualities have the same nose (same shape: a bit larger than usual and...well, if u're a jew look in the mirror)

Yeah, the Jewish Nose remains a trademark of Jewish people. It's very distinct.

    No it doesen't matter but:
    1) I don't think we're ever gonna look all alike
    2) post like "does it matter...." are irrelevant on this forum, as many threads treat non-critical problems, so if u don't wanna post on this thread ok, but don't deny the whole thread's importance because the same thing can be actually made about most of the threads.

    Regarding the nose:
Yeah it's very distinct, at first glance, i thought David Blaine (the magician guy) is a black american, but at a closer look at his nose i started thinking that he is a jew or at least some of his old relatives are. After logging on to www.nndb.com i found out that he IS jewish. Btw he's probably a model of how jews used to look like before mixing, especiallu the dark skin

King David most likely had red hair. The Torah describes him as having a " ruddy complexion." The tribes of Gad and Asher are from Leah's handmaiden, Zilpah. The tribe of Dan and Naphtali are from Rachel's handmaiden, Bilhah. Were these women Semitic, African....??? I don't know. All of Jacob's sons had their bondmen circumcised and they married women from Canaan, Joseph married an Egyptian woman, you have many converts, some famous like Ruth...etc..etc...

The next generation of Jewish kids coming up seem to be skipping the big nose gene. I think we share more similarities in terms of our approach to intellectual thought, and creative reasoning. That and our high libidos. If only our Rabbis would preach the rthym method, we'd make more babies and have something to show for it. Or at least we'd be better dancers.

Mira: i highly doubt that King David had red hair, and the thing is that egiptians and caananites used to live in the same area as jews, and biology teaches us that humans look different in different parts of the world due to the weather and type of food supply, so an egyptian for instance might have resemblede a jew pretty much, so though jews married caananites (who were semites anyhow) or egiptians (who no one knows what they were, maybe semites too, but they did resemble physically i think) they still looked 90% the same.

David Blaine is ashkenazi, on nndb.com it says "russian ancestry"

I don't think the nose will "fade out"...i trully don't..i'm 20 and i have the nose and alos a family friend whose son is 9...i mean at 9 u can't tell too much but i analysed it and it looks as it's growing to shape that way :P

To get an idea of what ancient Jews looked like, it's best to look at Mizrahi Jews (e.g. Iraqi Jews), Samaritans, Lebanese Christians etc. In other words, those people native to the region prior to Arabization and who largely resisted Arabization and kept their identity.
