Anti-war activists planning to 'take over' White House

A leading anti-Iraq war group is advertising a plan to storm the White House next month and "take it over" until the Bush administration vacates the premises.

United for Peace and Justice, which claims to represent 1,300 local and national anti-war organizations, has a page on its site advertising the March 15 action.

"We are taking over the White House until they leave," the announcement says.

The press release is entitled "Take the White House by Storm" – though elsewhere on the site a statement calls the storming "a peaceful event."

"It is our duty and the duty of the United Nations to rescue the people of the world from the U.S. dictators," states the release. "Murder for occupation and theft of land is illegal. Murder of journalists is criminal. Remove the traitors who have stolen the U.S. budget and used it to commit international crimes against humanity.

"If we were being bombed and our journalists were being murdered here in the U.S. by a foreign country's military, we would hope that the people of that country would stop what they are doing and go to their president's office and demand that it was stopped. If we were the ones burying thousands and thousands of our family members and watching the destruction of the homes, schools, churches and offices that we had worked for decades to build, we would hope that someone, somewhere would care enough to do something for us. We must stop the criminals in our government NOW."

The national coordinator for United for Peace told WND it allows many of the hundreds of affiliated organization to post information about events on its website, though the umbrella group does not endorse every activity.

A line on the statement says: "Events listed are not necessarily endorsed or organized by UFPJ."

Said the organization's Leslie Cagan: "We ask member groups that are planning activities, especially around the third anniversary of the war, to list them on our website. But we don't necessarily screen everything posted. … This is not our activity."

Cagan admitted the language in the announcement is "a little inflammatory" and told WND she would look into the group that posted the release as well as the event. Darrow Boggiano, from an organization called Political Cooperative, is the name listed as a contact for the event.

The group was formed in January to "combine social justice organizations and political parties for a radical change in government."

The protesters plan to appeal to the United Nations and all member nations to help oust the Bush administration.

"Bring signs that say 'U.N. SOS' and 'Leave Now,' or whatever you would like to say," states the announcement.

"The administration is criminal, and if they will not step down, we must storm in [and] show them how many of us do not accept a criminal government."

The page includes an RSVP link where people interested in helping storm the White House can let the event organizations know.

"Storm the White House" and "radical change in government" does seem a bit inflammatory, doesn't it? I wonder if this could constitute some "clear and present danger" actions by the government...

So, if they get rid of all the neo-cons, Republicans, and all other "righty-tighty" elements in DC; who are they going to replace them with? Of course it will be neo-coms, Democrats, and "lefty-looseies. Some choice! Slavery under any banner is still slavery. These hose brains will make good water cannon fodder. If they want to overthrow the government, they should at least come up with something original, not some cast off bolshivek garbage.

Like all humans have a right side and a left side to their body, nations have them too. Most/if not all ways to infiltrate a democratic nation, are to be found on it’s left side, the peace-movements.

    Seeking peace is good…

….hoping for peace could be naive

….(desperately) demanding for peace could be suicide

    ….seeking peace is still good

…to achieve peace however, one has to know his enemies better then they know themselves including the ways in which wanton blindness of peace-movements is being used to infiltrate.

I am not pro-war and I'm not anti-war. I did believe that Saddam Hussein and Iraq had weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) and I felt he wouldn't hesitate to use them, so I was for the invasion of Iraq in 2003. While I now believe that most western intelligence agencies were somehow duped by the Iraqis into believing that they had WMDs and I don't believe that the Bush Administration and the Blair Administration led us into a "false war." I think both trusted their intelligence agencies who were not able to get people on the ground in Iraq before the invasion. Don't forget that Saddam was very good at setting up overlapping layers of internal security agencies. Most Iraqis were rightfully afraid of Saddam's intelligence services.

It has now been three years since the invasion and the Iraqi government is trying to take shape. It is imperative for the US and Israel and most other countries in the Middle East that a strong government is formed in Bagdad. It will also need a strong internal police force that can prevent Sunni Arabs, Sunni Kurds and Shiite Arabs from splitting up the country.

A radical Kurdish state in the north poses great danger to Turkey which is 25% Kurdish. An independent Shiite south Iraq would be pulled towards Iran. It is because of these two reasons that we must stay in Iraq until the country has a government that will not allow any one group to split off. When this happens then we can bring home our troops.

What scares me most is that this anarchist rhetoric is coming from a supposedly mainstream anti-war organization...it's supposed to be the good one, to balance out evil ANSWER, and the like. Mind you this comes from a peace group which has Edward Said and other militant supporters of terrorism as one of it's advertised signees.

As war has been already over for 3 years, I'd say ANTI-AMERICA.

The war in Iraq is definitely not over. When mortars are fired at the Green Zone in Bagdad on a daily basis and US & British soldiers on patrol are killed and maimed due to improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted on the side of main streets all over Iraq, then I can't see how you can say that the war has been over for three years.

Nick, bear with me, I'm about to get very stingy on diction. CoinToss is saying "war" and you are saying "the war". The War connotes state v. state, i.e. Iraq v. US. War, on the other hand, is more of a statement that says our forces are being shot at and are shooting back.
The War has been over for a while. Resistance on the part of insurgents (NOT the government of Iraq) is continuing, and so war is not over.

Useless to be stingy, as a french, my use of "the" is somehow randomatic.
You are analysing NOISE, not SIGNAL. It's totally pointless.

All right, I guess the The's implications in my mind aren't valid at all. You both were talking about the same thing, apparently. However, this only moves me from opposing both views to opposing your views. Conflict in Iraq is by no stretch of the imagination over, I would say that the peace movements are still very much anti-war.

If you are really in Bosnia, what do you know about us Americans. And who said anything about "Jewish idealizm?" What about Serbian idealism and the idea of a greater Serbia?

I'm really from Bosnia. I know a lot about you 'couse the news are full of you. I wathed a lot of documentary movies about you, including Moore's 911. Your institution is paradoxal. It's easy to manipulate your sistem. First Italians, now Jews... who knows, maybe Bosnians will control it tomorow. I will write you a translation of this in bosnian so you can check me out, if you want.

Ja sam stvarno iz Bosne. Znam dosta o vama jer su vas vijesti pune. Gledao sam dosta dokumentaraca o vama, uključujuči i Murov 911. Vaše društvo je paradoxalno. Lako je manipulisati vašim sistemom. Prvo Talijani, sada Jevreji... ko zna, možda će baš Bosanci sutra kontrolisati. Napisaću vam prevod ovoga na bosanskom da me možete provjeriti, ako želite.
