"...........as long as demographics of U.S. include majority Anglo-Saxon whites........" that would mean that those people vote along racial line than whats better?.i mean im not saying they shouldnt vote for whites, but what if they get a despotic guy as a candidate while a great african american is the other?. would they still vote for that white guy?, if so america is indeed in a pathetic state, cos for all our calls for "equality" and "democracy", we dont practice it ourselves

on the other hand, in india, we have had lady prime ministers, minority presidents and prime ministers.our current prime minister is from a minority ethnicity

nope, we would never change that.

    we have a saying
    "matha pitha guru deivam"

wich translates into "mother, father, teacher, god"
so for indians god is not in the top, he/she is only the 4rth.lol
we have lots of stories of children defying god, cos their parents/teachers order carry more weight than than of god.

its somewhat similar to the japanese concept of "bushido"

    Arjunn & American equality

It's well known that America has a history of hypocrisy and that "Equality & Freedom" is mostly a slogan that looks great on paper. I mean, it took about a century to abolish slavery, and then another century to grant equal rights for all. Don't get me wrong, America is great, but excessive credit shouldn't be given.

Regarding presidents, Israel is also had a female prime minister. I honestly believe that the U.S. presidency trend will not change anytime soon.

lol dont worry!, i would never give it excessive credit. ive seen people who come to the us and think "wow this country is awesome in every way". but they are simply misguided. yes, its a crying shame that the african americans were treated like second class citizens for soo long a period.

yep golda meir is a lady i admire very much. her swift reaction to the killing of the athletes in munich is a templete we should use when dealing with smilar terrorist attacks

Yes, people are fooled and blinded by American propoganda. As great as America may be, it's full of flaws. For the people that come from extremely poor and distressed places, America is a paradise. But not all people are impressed by America. $$ is America's best feature.

"............For the people that come from extremely poor and distressed places, America is a paradise..."

i was about to say that, but i omited it from my reply earlier cos i thought i would make people misunderstand it as if im making fun at people for being poor.but u said it well man. thats the main reason. cos for a guy who havent had a car, or a decent home to live on, america might sem like paradise. but for those who look at the overall view of things, its sadly lacking in many aspects

That's right my friend. People in foreign countries with economic prosperity absolutely don't need to live in America. These people have their own traditional culture and prosperity, what more can they ask for? America could only be a good trading partner, nothing more. Such people are not impressed by America.

    well said

u wont belive how flabbergasted i was when i came to the us as a student.lol.not that i was awed by it, cos i knew better, but i was flabbergasted at how little the americans knew about the rest of the world.
oh well..i shouldnt start talking about that, cos it will take pages to write it, but

i should say it would be hard for me to find a country other than america whose people are soo unknowledgable about the rest of the world.lol

Yes, it's true. How can this be explained?

Arjunn don't worry, people here just need a little time to adjusting to a close second place.

Jews and Hindus have always gotten along well together anyway.

Why should we? I don't particularly care about the rest of the world. I care about myself, my family, my work, my house and my taxes.

American "lack" of knowledge somehow does not detract the United States from been the most powerful, most influential, most culturally atractive nation in the world. May be American lack of any historical burdens, compared to the rest of the world, and an independent self-image is what makes so powerful?

Knowledge about the rest of the world doesn't advance you any further then those who lack that particular know-how.
